Rock city has three different rooms, each playing a different type of music. The main one is known as the Main Room (aren’t we rockers original). This is the largest, has a stage to dance on, two bars, one food bar, a large dance floor, and an upstairs balcony with another bar and seating (as well as a good view of the dance floor). The other two rooms are a lot smaller. Room 2 (again our originality comes to the fore) ... ...closed to separate it from Rock City). It has one large bar, a quite large dance floor, and several seating areas. Nope, 'tis Nottingham Rock City, lauded amongst rock fans, almost whispered of in revered tones by those who haven't been there, almost mystical in its existence. Nottingham Rock City fast become the Mecca of rock fans everywhere, if you hadn't been there, you just hadn't lived, it had to be the one place to go.
So I did! Saturday as a matter of a fact, yes I must admit that it was one of the deciding factors in choosing where to go ... ...in Birmingham. Coming up at Rock City in the next couple of months are the likes of Ash, NOFX, Bad Religion and more. The ticket prices average around the £15 mark, so its not too bad. Capacity is quite small though so you have to get your tickets early, I believe it fits in around 2000 people.

...night out at the famous Rock City.
We had heard allsorts of rumours about the place, one was from some feedback from a Ciao member saying you stick to the floor.
Well I can verify that, yes you really do.
Anyway, Rock City is in the heart of Nottingham City Centre, and we were preparing ourselves for a long queue. Apparently we had gone at the right time, so the taxi driver said, as loads of students were away on holiday and normally it was heaving.
... ...younger people in there, the Rock Room was where the golden oldies were, mostly people over 30.
We stayed in there for a while , then started to feel old, we went to find the last room, before we stuck to the floor. One bit of advice, is never stand still for long, the chewing gum or fallen beer, sticks like mad to your shoes.
The last room was down the stairs and to the right of the entrance, this was a pokey little room compared to the others.

Advantages: 3 rooms to choose from each playing different styles of rock music. Bands playing live as well. Disadvantages: Can get VERY busy, beer some nights is a little pricey
Rock city is touted as being the best rock club in the north by many popular rock magazines, so me and some friends travelled down from Sheffield to check out this venue.
At first it was a little difficult to locate. Rock city is tucked away in a back street. Thankfully when we went into the scream pub round the corner, all we had to do was follow the horde of goths and skaters off to the venue.
After queing for about 15 mins we eventually got ... ...downstairs, which plays old school rock and metal. Opposite to this is a very small room which plays a mix of Drum and bass, Skate punk and Nu metal, and music that crosses between D'n'B and metal such as pitchshifter.
From here you can then head upstairs. This is where you will find 3 bars, a fairly big dance floor and stage where obviously the bands play who come to rock city. Finally above this is the balcony bar.

Well Rock City - What can be said about the place.
It is reasonalby cheap to get in, which is maybe why it gets such a huge queue outside if you don't get there early.
The place itself is grubby, and it looks as if the last time it was cleaned or redecorated was in 1975 - which is long before a lot of the people in there were born! The loos, and I can only speak for the ladies, are not the most clean places in the world, with the usual sink blockages, ... ...biggest room was playing recent songs, and was full of underdressed females trying to get off with blokes with funny haircuts! A bit too much of a meat market for my liking.
I prefer the 60's/70's room, where the music was better, and the folks were slightly older. However the room is very small, and it can be hard to get to the bar. And the drinks are expensive.
The floors can be sticky! But take care, they can also be extremely slippy, especially ...

...out drinking I would suggest rock city. They play a wide variety of music from nu metal through pop. Limp Bizkit, Offspring, Green Day through to S-club-7 wait I know not brilliant music but at £1 a drink you won't care whats playing. The night finishes at 2:00 and there are many late night busses from the center of nottingham or you can get a taxi if your rich. So if your bored and like to drink and enjoy your self come down to rock city go on you ... ...get dreesed up it's not a club if you wear a shirt and jacket you'll look like an idiot. try a hoodie and some baggy trousers. If this ain't your scene then pass on by go to some proper club like isis or media but if you like a good time and very attractive people wearing not much then come here. It costs £2.50 to get in or £1 with a flyer which you can find around the town a good cheap night out. I'll see you there :) ...

I love Rock City. It is the story of my life really. Every teen experiences it throughout their years and if they don't they have missed out. Rock City wins Kerrang awards most years and it is infamous for the bands who have played. From Nirvana to Ozzy Osbourne have played at the venue. Do be aware however that when gigs are on the prices of drinks goes up but thats purely to pay for the band. When you see huge bands such as fall out boy play they ... ...on a saturday Distortion for Rock fans. Rock City also have an under 18's night on a Sunday for the younger generation of Rock kids.
Ive had some of my best memories in there. The place is kinda shabby but its no surprise with the amount of people who come through the doors every week. Management are doing their best to give it a bit of a re-furb. My only downside to the place is you hear the same songs most weeks but your usually too drunk to even ...
