Ronda is situated 60km up a winding mountain road in the mountain range Serranía de Ronda. It stands at an altitude of 739 m and has approximately 35,000 inhabitants. The average year round temperature is 15C and it has around 2700 hours of sunshine per year.
Ronda is a town that is not that well known on the typical Spanish tourist list of places to go, but – believe me – it should be, it is a wonderful place.

Ronda has two parts the old Moorish area, La Ciudad, and the "new" (circa 1485!) town, El Mercadillo, dividing these quarters is the El Tajo, the 100 plus meters deep canyon through which the River Guadalevín flows. ...their cosy garages. RONDA is literally jam-packed with history and is one of Andalucia's most visited towns. It hangs, precipitously, atop a plateau which commands wide vistas in all directions. Such a position was always going to be a natural choice for settlement, and so it proved to be. It's been settled since prehistoric times and was well development during the Roman occupation. But it was during the Moorish period when the town blossomed, and ... ...from the coast up to Ronda (770m above sea level) is through a series of steep climbs and hairpin bends along a winding mountain road which, although in good condition and reasonably wide, is still quite time-consuming, especially if you're stuck behind a slow-moving truck. Ronda is inland from the Costa del Sol it takes about an hour to drive the113km from Malaga. Ronda is easily accessible by train from Algerciras or Granada and the stations in between.
We were lucky and found a place to park the car in one of the streets but there is a car park by the bull ring and some other underground car parks too.
We drove to Ronda from the village we were staying in Ronda is a great viewpoint with views ... ...The town of Ronda is an old settlement from Celt times. The later Roman and Moorish architecture are most prominent. There are several museums many eating places and shops. There is a bull ring which is used in fiesta time. There is a museum in the bull ring we did not visit as I am not a lover of bull fighting. There is also an art gallery.
