Pleasant flight with Royal Brunei

Advantages: flight times, good seating
Disadvantages: could be more toilets on the Boeing 767 of RBA

Flew with Royal Brunei in August 2007 from London to Brunei and return. Check in at Heathrow handled by Aviance well organised. They also have some of their own staff in RBA uniform handling the operation alongside Aviance. I got a fast track through security however the queues looked very long and I felt very sorry for those who had to stand in line. Waited at gate for around 30-40 minutes before boarding, which is done row-by-row from the front ...
...taxi to the gate was very quick surprisingly, but this is at 6:30 in the morning! Not many queues for immigration which was surprising and was soon reunited with relatives in the UK. Overall a good experience and I wouldn't hesitate to fly Royal Brunei again. Recommend them to anyone. ...

Does the Sultan really fly Royal Brunei

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Small aircraft, basic service

...in April 2000 and used Royal Brunei as the carrier. Admittedly my only criteria in booking with them were a) the price of the ticket - which was substantially lower than anything else available at the time; b) the schedule - the timing of the flights matched my availability to perfection. I wasn't expecting a lot for the price and people had told me that the service was fairly basic. I was generally happy with the flight and the cabin crew - bearing ...
...been far more comfortable with a 747-400 or a DC10 - even the Russian ILYUSHIN that Aeroflot are still managing to keep aloft was more comfortable than the dinky little thing used by Royal Brunei - but on a positive note it was only a quick walk to the loo!! ...

Not Too Bad At All

Advantages: Cheap. In flight crew are helpful. Seating is OK
Disadvantages: No alcoholic drinks are served. Hub airport is boring

Royal Brunei Airlines-known as RBA in the South East Asian region-has grown considerably since its formation back in 1974,when it commenced operations with two Boeing 737-200 aircraft. Today from its hub in Bandar Seri Begawan, (BSB)Brunei's flag carrier flies to regional destinations such as Kuala Lumpur,Kuching,Kota Kinabalu,Singapore, Bangkok, Balikpapan, Jakarta, Bali,Ho Chi Minh City, and Manila while among international destinations served ...
...business jet of the Brunei Royal Flight was preparing to take off. The RBA pilot-an expatriate-made it fairly clear that he was annoyed that a scheduled flight was being held up. I have found the in flight service to be quite good on RBA. The cabin crew are recruited from the likes of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Vietnam-I guess there are also a few but not many from Brunei. They are very helpful to passengers and try ...

RoyalBrunei bargain business class

Advantages: Great value
Disadvantages: No alcohol, but you can take your own in Business Class

...to read other opinions on Royal Brunei Airlines and thought that I would add mine as I was most impressed by them. I was due to fly to Oz from London in April and having travelled economy Down Under previously I said to myself never again! I decided to treat myself for once and set about searching for a good value business class flight on the net and found Royal Brunei. As business class to Australia can be anything from £3000 upwards the cost of ...
...off and cutlery to use. Royal Brunei, being a Moslem airline is 'dry' but if you fly business or first you may take on your own alcohol if you wish. The 'travel pack' given contained a very good selection of toiletries, and the usual toothbrush/toothpaste/socks etc. Stopovers for refuelling mean that you can use the business class lounges again where you can smoke, drink, eat, snooze in comfort until someone collects you for boarding again. All in ...

RBA: Improving All the Time!

Advantages: Modern fleet
Disadvantages: Limited route network

I have flown on Royal Brunei Airlines four times on the Kuala Lumpur - Bandar Seri Bagawan and Bandar Seri Bagawan Miri sectors. and also from BSB to Kota Kinabalu. The RBA fleet is a modern one and I found it to be a punctual airline. I was also impressed with the ground services at Bandar seri Bagawan airport. The in flight service is quite acceptable and I noticed that Cathay Pacific,RBA have a multi ethnic cabin crew. On my flights there were ...
...among the flight attendants was very good. The in flight magazine is quite a good read and the cuisine seemed to me to be fairly good, without being distinguised. The in flight entertainment system is not particularly outstanding and pales,eg,in comparison to that of SIA. RBA run an airport restaurant at BSB airport and it really is good. I have enjoyed the meals there and reckon it is one of the best places for the visitor to eat in the Brunei ...

Superb service at superb prices

Advantages: Value, Stopovers, Service
Disadvantages: Does not serve alcohol, Small aircraft

I have flown with Royal Brunei every year for the past 5 years and have covered almost all their longhaul routes and can thoroughly recommend it! It is one of a small number of international airlines that serve my parents' home city of Calcutta in India, and their routes also include some prominent Middle East, Far East and Australian destinations. If you are lucky enough to be wanting to fly to these cities - you could do much worse than flying ...
...comfort compares admirably to other more well-known carriers. I'm not short and I can easily stretch my legs even whilst sitting down. The food choices consist of a "destination" meal (Indian or Far Eastern) and a Western style meal at each meal and both are invariably very good. All special diets are catered for with 24 hrs notice. Their biggest aircraft is a Boeing 767 - hence there are regular refuelling stops. A trip to Brisbane could involve ...

royal brunei

Advantages: flying
Disadvantages: not very comfortable

I went on Royal Brunei Airlines flying from London to dubai. At least I thought that I was going to Dubai instead they told us just before we left that we would be going to Abu Dhabi instead, this was to do with Royal Brunei. I did not really find the trip that enjoyable because the seats were not very comfortable and the films were a bit boring. The best part of the trip was the song that they sing every twenty minutes, it comes up on the screen ...

Local Airlines Flies High

Advantages: Cheap cost
Disadvantages: Entertainment facilities could be better

Royal Brunei Airlines is really a little local airline serving the country of Brunei but with an ever expanding global service. The Brunei - Dubai - London route must be one of its most popular international route with departures once every day of the week. In addition to that it is also one of the cheapest of its kind of flight to the region compared to Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Thai Airlines and British Airways. Moreover en route ...
...(and maybe to Malaysia from Singapore). The on-flight and ground crew service is second to none. However on the down side, having been flying RBA for six years now, I have noticed that the facilities on board, including seat covers and movie projection-style entertainment hasn't changed at all. Unlike Singapore Airlines where each and every passenger gets a mini screen for movies on the back of the seat in front, RBA still projects its movies onto ...

A little warning about this ariline

Advantages: They fly to Brunei
Disadvantages: They are not cheap, but act like a budget airline.

...charging you till 25kg. However, Royal Brunei were even charging people for part of a kg. For example, if your luggage weighed 20.7kg you were charged for 1kg. Now here's the good bit...the excess baggage charges were AUS$32/kg to Brunei & AUS$75 to London!! I live overseas & therefore do a lot of travelling & never have I been charged from 20kg & NEVER have I paid so much in excess baggage. On Malaysian airlines it's about $20/kg & on AirAsia X ...
...they were doing this because Royal Brunei is sort of like a budget airline. This is certainly not the case, when I had to pay $1200 for a return trip from Brunei to Perth. There's nothing cheap about that! Three-quarters of the plane were sent to re-pack their luggage because of this ridiculous policy. The airport looked like a camping ground! People were throwing out clothes, shoes, food, toiletries etc. Had Royal Brunei informed their passengers, ...

Great value for money

Advantages: Very Cheap, Crew V Helpful & Friendly, Good Food
Disadvantages: No booze served, Brunei Airport is dull

I travelled to Australia to see my old school friend who had just popped out her 2nd baby.. I'm a nervous flyer at the best of times and the longest flight I'd ever done was 7 hours! I was dreading doing all of this on my own! However, I should never have worried. The crew were so friendly and helpful. Not only did they make sure that you woke up for meals and kept hydrated, they even brought out a special dessert for one lady who was travelling ...

Luckily a nice lady was sat in the seat next to me and she advised me you were allowed to bring on your own... Out popped a large bottle of vodka and my nerves were soon eased! The film choices were excellent - a good variety and the frequency was such that you were never bored. The food was excellent ...

Quick review of Royal Brunei Airlines

I checked in Singapore for a Dubai flight (stopover in Brunei). Someone (must be the handling staff) opened our checked in bags and stole a Digital camera, MP3 player and an expensive watch. Royal Brunei could be less bothered and they were clearly hoping I would get frustrated and stop following up on my complaint (in which they succeeded !) In the end, I dont think I have any recourse so YOU be careful ...

Advantages: Good seat pitch
Disadvantages: old aircraft, no alcohol

Travelled out from London to Dubai and then onto Brunei - 15 hours of flying in total. There was a 90 minute layover in Dubai, which is not quite enough time to make use of the excellent shopping facilities. Travelled on a Boeing 767 which is good as far as the 2-3-2 seat configuration goes. The seat pitch was pretty good, giving slightly more legroom than other carriers. However, no individual entertainment systems so you struggle to see the (old) ...

Royal Skies Air Miles.

Advantages: Good in flight service
Disadvantages: In flight entertainment can be dodgy at times!!!

...10 years. Despite having my Royal Skies card swiped at check in I now find that they have only credited us with one trip. Despite REPEATED emails to Brunei theyhave completely ignored and query. Their blurb does say that they need boarding passes etc for the miles to be credited-unfortunately I do not have 8 year old boarding passes in my possession as I thought that when my card wa swiped at check in, that would count. I have no problem with the ...
