Advantages: Snazzy uniforms of the staff Disadvantages: Lots of disinterested staff, the food, lack of entertainment
Who are they? The national airline of Jordan. Nope I had never heard of them either till I worked (albeit briefly) for them. They are due to come become part of the One World Alliance.
Where do they fly? All around the world, mainly the Middle East (Iraq!) and Europe and Asia and the USA. RJ has quite a wide route network through code sharing with different airlines.
The planes: They have a fleet of 24 planes, mostly Airbus. They are generally ... ...Crown Class and Economy Class onboard. Crown Class is business class and first class merged into one. Check-In: Long queues and some quite abrupt and rude staff at Heathrow! It was quite unorganised. It was a bit better at Amman.
Punctuality: I did not find that my flights were punctual due to delays on the ground.
Boarding: Boarding was done from the back forward in London with priority for Crown Class passengers. In Amman it was much more of ...

Advantages: Newish aircraft, reasonable leg room Disadvantages: Uncaring staff, repeated delays, poor food, tatty uncleaned aircraft, shall I go on?
...had a good impression of Royal Jordanian. After all, they are a "Royal" airline - as good sign. I'd read a couple of good reviews. I'd heard they were good.
Jordan is a lovely country and the people are among the warmest, friendliest and most hospitable I have ever met, so I was sure that the airline would reflect that and the people would be nice, so I felt relaxed. HA!
BOOKING
I booked the flight a few days ahead. The flight was scheduled to ... ...so I called international to Royal Jordanian in Jordan. The first time I got disconnected, the second time I couldn't get through. Finally I got through to someone who told me the flight had been delayed further, to 0015, arriving in the small hours. Also she would request a carrycot seat but could not confirm...but maybe. Is there nothing you can do? "I'm sorry". HA!
Suddenly what had looked like a relatively easy journey was begining to seem more ...

Today, Royal Jordanian serves over 30 destinations worldwide (daily service to London/Heathrow, New York/JFK, Chicago, Munich, Frankfurt, Paris/Orly, Vienna, Amsterdam, Bangkok,Kuala Lumpur, Tel Aviv,.... and most of the Arabic countries). My experiences with Royal Jordanian

I've flown several times on RJ. The first time, was terrible! There people can check in one day before, are hand out their boarding cards and pay the depature taxes. At the airport, they only have to pass the passport control. Well, I used this termnal and it is a good solution for the "trouble" in the airport- and you get 15kg more free baggage allowance!

...that was our experience with Royal Jordanian Airlines began on December 20, 2007. James and I arrived at the Chicago O'Hare International Airport, ready to board our 9:10PM flight to Amman, Jordan. Checking in, we learned that the airline overbooked its Hajj-season flights, allotting a five-hour delay to our schedule. Immediately, we expressed concern for making our connecting flights to Delhi (Royal Jordanian), Bangalore (Jet Airways), and Trivandrum ... ...as doing so is "not Royal Jordanian policy." We were then shuttled to a somewhat sketchy hotel and instructed to speak at 8AM with the Royal Jordanian representative present there. He would arrange our new flights.
It is December 22, 2007 (the day we were supposed to arrive in Trivandrum). 8AM rolls around, and we make our way to the hotel lobby, where there is a Royal Jordanian representative sitting in an office, behind a locked glass door. I ...

Advantages: Love the service Disadvantages: Bit of an old aircraft
...one thing I like about Royal Jordanian Airlines is not just the colours that the aircraft is painted but the way they treat you there as well. The in-flight entertainment isn’t all to great but I have to say that the air hostesses are great and always have a smile on their face. I wouldn’t recommend going two legs of a journey like from London to Colombo via Amman. I think it may be a bit too stressful as the seats aren’t very comfortable and the ...

let's start at the airport the guy who served was clearly not english but tried so hard to sound like it I just could not understand a word. the service itself is ok but far from the best the plane was clean no delay. The flight entertaining system is the most rubbish thing i ever got a tiny screen to watch no individual screen for an international flight OMG!!! So you must watch what they decided to play on TV somes kinds of kids movie very boring ... ...is so poor only 1 channel with music the rest is arabic music and not the best. The food is average nothing too special, luckily i did arrived to Amman where i needed to catch another fly with them to Lebanon, what a wonder when I got in this plane and found out every seat have their own screen just for an hour flight. On my return fly the entertainment system wasn't working so got to spend doing nothing else than just looking out the window. ...
