Advantages: Superb, well prepared food Disadvantages: can get very busy, fairly pricey (but worth it!)
...thing that hits you about Saltwater is the fabulous interior- decorated with bold wooden furniture and lots of natural themes (think cacti, dried plants, natural stone), all tastefully lit so that the place seems bright and airy without being overly harsh (I hate eating under bright neon lights- not at all intimate or romantic). Mind you, considering this place is in the fantasticly hip Corner House, one should expect this. However, once inside you ... ...third floor of the complex, Saltwater boasts a fantastic view of the city skyline. The whole side of the restaurant is a giant window, leading onto a beautiful patio where summer diners can eat or drink. So whereever you sit, you can admire the view & some superb sunsets.
Now the service and the drinks. We were shown to our table and a drinks list appeared shortly after. Saltwater boasts an impressive cellar, and trying to choose the 'one' from ...

Advantages: Good food, nice decor Disadvantages: Sloppy service, over-priced
...the website, I was expecting Saltwater to be much smaller and more intimate than it is. When we went it looked ok but I got the feeling that nobody was in charge and nobody was that bothered about what was going on. We got some drinks and went to the roof terrace, which was busy because it had been the first hot day of the year. The terrace was lovely, but you had to stand on the seating area to see the view, and the area was made to look at bit ... ...in the corner. When we went into the restaurant we noticed that the lighting was nice and the decor modern. It took quite a long time for anyone to welcome us, they all seemed more interested in laying tables and getting other customers to pay! None of the wine is below about £14 - I chose a French red that was ok but I expected it to be nicer. The food was very good - we all cleaned our plates, but if I felt a bit sorry for the chef because the ...

Advantages: The normal menu was always good Disadvantages: The pre theatre menu is APPALLING
We used to come here for a special meal. Really great food, great atmosphere. Used to bring a lot of clients here from work. However, recently needed somewhere for a pre theatre menu and made the terrible mistake of booking saltwater, and it was so dreadful we will no longer use this place for work functions. What can I say, the service was dreadful, the menu was very poor, and when the food arrived we felt like we were in the happy eater not a top ... ...COLD 'warm goats cheese' salad- and I mean COLD COLD, not just not hot!, then 'chicken kiev' - the only meat dish available, which was a deep fried, burnt, pre prepared chicken breast, on YET AGAIN cold pasta in a pre prepared sauce. No bread delivered with the starters (my partner had soup!) and so after asking twice we finally got it, being told 'it's 50p for you as you didn't order soup'. The food was disgusting, it may sound overdramatic but ...
