On the San Diego quey-side there is every kind of shop imaginable, all of high quality. If you want to buy indian carvings or possible do some Christmas shopping this is the place to go. During the day there are ships you can visit and explore and for a reasonable price. There are one or two hour tours of the bay which is also a good price and go all day. At night there is not much to do in the centre but there are plenty of wonderful restaurants ... Read review

San Diego is a fantastic holiday destination. It is warm and sunny but as it is on the coast there are cooling sea breezes. The people are all friendly and there is fantastic shopping centre. The buildings are all painted in bright colours as the town used to be owned by Mexico. A place that must be visited is Balboa Park which has museums in it (some of which can be free on particular days) and also San Diego zoo. The park itself is lovely to walk ... Read review

Disadvantages: Can get cold as it is out doors

...your vacation with one of San Diego’s best kept secrets. I stumble across this 3 years ago the Garden Cabaret Movie Theater at the University Town Shopping Center. The theater is a unique experience as it is outdoors under the stars and shows classic 40’s and 50’s movies Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the summer months. Seating is limited as it’s tables and chairs so food can be brought in from the UTC food court, which has a wide range of styles ... Read review

I travelled to California in April of this year. It was amazing, i was skydiving for two weeks and the weekend in the middle we went to San Diego for two nights. One of the best couple of days ever!!! The beaches are beautiful, i cannot compare them to any others i've seen. The weather was great at that time of year and everyone is so friendly. If you enjoy shopping then you'll definately enjoy yourself here. The shops offer everything you can imagine and more!!! But for me to top it all off was the huge ice creams! childish i know but what can i say... its my weakness. You buy a drink of coke and its given to you in what i can only describe as a bucket... and people question why the americans are such 'large' people...

Advantages: Weather, location, beauty
Disadvantages: No direct flight from UK

...and I have travelled to San Diego three times now. It is truely one of those places on earth that draws you to it like a magnet. Once you have been it will stay with you always. The climate is perfect, beautiful clear days and endless blue sky without the excessive heat of some destinations. Each time we have stayed at the Holiday Inn on the Bay. San Diego was sadly the last destination on our itinerary for our holiday (except a day trip to Tijuana in Mexico). In Spanish, a "La Jolla" is a jewel. San Diego is set around a gracefully curving bay in Southern California and we were staying in La Jolla (pronounced La Hoya). Advantages: Amazing displays by sea creatures

...USA. It is located at San Diego, about 2 hours drive from Los Angeles. There are daily performances of dolphins, birds, sea lions and other animals. But the most attractive performance of the day is the killer whales performance. Remember Free Willy? Here, you can get a closer look at the giant killer whales as they do somersault over the water. ...husband is an American from San Diego, California, so we're often flying out there to visit. There are many lovely places in California to check out like San Diego Zoo, Disneyland, Universal Studios and Seaworld to name a few. Not forgetting to mention the gorgeous clean beaches. Advantages: u can see everything in one day
Disadvantages: very hard to reach unless by car

...from the train station at San Diego. You can get a bus but the information machine at the train station was broken and there was no one around to ask. I would probably take one of the excursions and see it that way especially if you are in Los Angeles. If you are not interested in the backstage tour go for the excursion it will be cheaper.
