Advantages Advantages Climate is quite similar to England

Disadvantages Disadvantages Time-difference means big jetlag, and calls home are hard

I go to Seattle quite regularly for work reasons, and have quite enjoyed my time there. The city is located in the 'Great North-West' near the border with Canada, close to Vancouver. It's climate is generally a little colder and wetter during winter than England, but about the same temperature during summer. Flying into Seattle over the Cascades is a beautiful sight. The countryside around Seattle is densely pine-wooded , very green and lush. Offset against that is the snowy Cascades and majestic Olympic mountains. For reference Seattle is close to two major, active volcanic ranges. There is ... more

Advantages Advantages Skiing nearby, The Spaceneedle, fab fish

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Always rains!

..Well not actually in Seattle, but there are some great resorts nearby. Stevens pass, Snowqualmie and Crystal Mountain are all great places to do some cheap skiing and kill a bit of time should you find yourself sleepless. Skis can be hired for the day and daily lift passed purchased for about 40 GBP, and if you go mid-week you'll find the slopes virtually empty and no queues for chairlifts (yippee!) - watch out for the fact they have no bars though. The city of Seattle itself is great though. I would advise anyone to take a trip up the space needle for fab panoramic views (you'll need a ... more

Advantages Advantages Interesting stuff for lovers of all music genres

Disadvantages Disadvantages Audio guide is big and heavy. Entrance, at $20 a person, is quite pricey too.

Anyone visiting the Seattle Space Needle over the last couple of years won’t have failed to notice the blobby, mirrored building near its base. That curvy creation is the Experience Music Project and if you’re a fan of any kind of music, you should be inside it, not making faces on at the mirrored walls. The EMP was first conceived to house the extensive collection of Jimmy Hendrix memorabilia owned by one of Microsoft’s founders. It soon grew in scale and eventually took shape as a 140,000 homage to music designed by Frank Gehry (and not dissimilar in style to his Guggenheim ... more

Advantages Advantages What a wonderfull place to visit

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's at the other side of America

"From the moment I stepped off the plane at SeaTac Airport I instantly felt like I was home" These are the words repeated time after time by people after visiting seattle for the first time. Seattle, The city that never sleeps according to the film is a city that's there for everyone, nomatter what age, sex or colour you are. It's a place where the air is clean, the people are friendly and you can feel safe walking around knowing that the people are there to help you not hurt you. From Pikes Place market to the Needle and tourist centre to the Mariner and ferry port you can't but help but feel ... more

Advantages Advantages The people a friendly

Disadvantages Disadvantages It rains all winter!

I live in Tacoma which is a beautiful town right next to Seattle. I was born and raised in Washington and have lived in Seattle for about a year and a half. I enjoyed living in Seattle for many of its things to do and see, like the space needle, safe-co field, Pike's Place Market or just a walk down the Ballard locks. Its very rainy here in the winter months, but the spring and summer weather is almost perfect. It is typically about seventy five to eighty five degrease. If your in Seattle one place you need to look up is a restaurant called the cheese cake factory. Its expensive but they have ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good Food

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Rain

Yes the weather in Seattle resembles England in that it often rains. But the city is vibrant, surrounded by mountains on 3 sides you can see the storm clouds coming. I used to visit the city on a regular basis and was impressed by the quality of the downtown resturaunts like El Grouch's, which would not seem out of place in London or New York. The city caters for all tastes and I can highly recommend the seafood bars and grills are also excellent. Like most major citys it does suffer from congestion, but a short drive into the outskirts of the city takes you to some of the wonderful scenery ... more
