Advantages: Full of history, Lots to see and do,a beautiful City Disadvantages: Can be very hot, you will need plenty of money to spend.
This review is an overview of Seville and is meant as a taster which hopefully will encourage you to visit.
My Hubby and myself recently had a two week vacation in the Algarve , Portugal. We took our fist trip to Spain ever, travelling from our base in Albufeira, by coach to Seville. The journey was not too bad and we had 4 hours free-time in Seville. It was however about 4 hours travelling time there and the same back. Much of the coach journey ... ...Portugal, and then across Spain, was simply fields , a few trees and nothing particularly pretty or spectacular. We had to take our passports with us but we were not stopped as we crossed the bridge over the Guardiana River and entered Spain.
One thing we did notice as we made a journey break at the roadside services was that, unlike Portugal, no-one seemed to speak English. Well really why should they ? After all most British people like myself ...

Advantages: BEAUTIFUL PLACE - UNSPOILED - TRANQUIL - CLIMATE Disadvantages: SOMETIMES UNKEPT - NEEDS A BIT OF GOVERNMENT MONEY SPENDING ON IT!
Well, I’m writing this on New Years Eve, in the office, but totally bored as none of my customers are in their offices so I can’t phone them to chase them for their missing adverts…*sigh*
Anyway, my thoughts turned to holidays, like they do at times like this!!
In 2002 I went to Seville, Spain. I have traveled quite a bit but not really in Europe much so I didn’t know what to expect. Seville is a beautiful town – very ... ...suggest Seville and we went at an excellent time weatherwise – not too hot or cold.
We spent 5 days there in May 2002, at the Hotel San Gil – this is a 4 star hotel, where most of the rooms are suites, sadly we had one of the very few double rooms there.
They serve breakfast and ‘bar snacks’ I have put this in hyphens because the ‘snacks’ leave much to be desired to be honest, and as vegetarians our one and only ...

Advantages: great bars and tourist attractions Disadvantages: too hot in summer
...You can fly directly to Sevilla with Iberia airlines (around £100-£150) or get a connecting flight from Madrid, which is cheaper. If you are really on a budget, it is simple to get a flight to Malaga (usually there are very cheap deals to this airport) and get a coach or train to Sevilla. There ar e loads of hotels in the city itself- whether it is budget or five star that you would like. It is worth bearing in mind that the residents have a huge ... ...prices are inflated - but I have been told that the atmostphere in the city, as well as all the street parties are amazing at this time. When to go: Spring or Autumn. I really wouldn't recommend summer, as the city gets unbearably hot, and you just wont be able to face leaving your nice, air conditioned room! ...

Advantages: Architectural beauty; fantastic weather; great food; beautiful people... Disadvantages: Very few
...sun and watching the fishermen, Sevilla has it all. Oh, and the nightlife is great as well - don't plan to be back at your hotel before 6. That's fine though, because you can catch up the lost sleep in the afternoon.
We even managed to catch the Liverpool v. Real Betis Champions' League game during our time there - not one of the most classic matches I have ever watched, but the experience of sitting in a home supporters' stand wearing a red shirt ... ...All in all, Sevilla is a beautiful city, and could keep even the most flighty of us occupied for a couple of weeks. Whatever it is you look for in a holiday, you can find it in Sevilla, and I look forward to having the opportunity to go back there in the near future. I hope to see you there! ...

Advantages: sights, sun, pretty streets, tapas bars, Disadvantages: very hot
Seville is one of the most beautiful, relaxed cities I have visited. I went in August which is apparently one of the quieter months, probably due to the heat. I enjoyed beautiful sunshine and it was in the high 30s which may not suit everyone. Due to the heat I would highly recommend booking a hotel with a pool - a nice way to cool off after a day of sight seeing. I would recommend staing in the Santa Cruz area. This historic part of Seville offers ... ...is all within walking distance of the amazing cathedral. Seville's sights are varied and the city itself is a sight itself. I visited the cathedral, which is fantastic, including a walk to the top of the tower which offers wonderful views across the city. I also went to the bull ring, and although no shows on, a tour was very interesting and a good way to experience a part of Spanish culture without having to witness a bull fight (most bull fights ...

Advantages: Tranquil pace of life, shopping, monument, TAPAS!, orange blossom Disadvantages: none
Seville is without a doubt my favourite European city. It is perhaps the only city I've visited which "feels" like a village. The pace of life is slow, the shops are often small and local, everything is walkable within the centre.
The best bits of Seville:
* eating tapas
* climbing to the top of the Giralda for a view of the city
* river cruises
* shopping.
There are plenty of designer boutiques.
Recommendations:
* Hotel Cervantes - quiet, ... ...La Rabida - rather upmarket, but very traditional. Not a lot of choices if you don't want the full meal
* Hotel Catalonia Giralda - this chain of hotels is probably the cleanest, most modern in Spain
Bar Europa - lovely little tapas bar with plenty of more unusual choices. Try the ajoblanco or the pate de perdiz ...

Advantages: Breath-takingly beautiful, happy atmosphere, great weather. Disadvantages: A lack of many modern shops, no beach.
This city is beautiful. Buildings are magnificent, such as the cathedral and those around the Plaza de Espana. The palm trees and orange trees which are everywhere enhance this beauty even further, as well as the blue sky. Temperatures are extremely high in the summer months, making it one of Spain's hottest cities. Even in other months the weather is always mild. People love living in this city, and they are full of energy, eating out in tapas bars ... ...cheap to do, as in general the cost of living here is cheaper than in other countries such as England. People are friendly and welcoming, although not many speak English well. As Seville is the capital of its region Andalusia, it has many cheap bus services which go to other cities of interest and those near the beach. Although Seville is so big and exciting, you will find plenty to do exploring the city. ...

Go to Seville at Easter - Semana Santa- it is unique. You can fly cheaply from Liverpool on EasyJet direct to Malaga and get a cheap train for an hour.It completely outdoes any other European City for celebrations. Every day from noon til dawn fervant Catholic hooded penitents march solemnly in carefully controlled processions from church to church. They accompany huge heavy floats of catholic icons.It's completely OTT and slightly scary but truly ...
