Sharm El Sheikh is considered to be the wealthy part of Egypt due to the fact that it is the only part which has been specifically developed as a holiday resort and is the best place for locals to earn a living. There is no doubt that it is a beautiful place and, for the most part, very reasonably priced in terms of food and drink. We visited Sharm el Sheikh in November 2004 and we cannot wait to go back. When arriving at the airport be aware that you must pay for a visa - which costs around £12GB per person and ensure that your passport has been stamped. Collecting your lugguage from the carousel at the airport is an experience. Beware there are porters who will collect your luggage but expect to be paid even if you have been not asked him to do so. ...still want to fly to Sharm at least once a year for the rest of my life. It's much more than just a resort. It has, in my opinion, the ideal mix of something for everyone. The diving has to be some of the best in the world with some great dive shops around offering deals from one shot dives, beginner courses to renting the equipment and time on the boat. ...a two week break to Sharm mid-July this year, flying from East Midlands Airport the flight took a little under 6 hours. Upon arrival to the airport we were informed that the airport was a Military Airport and reps were not allowed inside the building, this scared us a little.
