Advantages: Friendly, helpful, stress free Disadvantages: On a coach for a long time
...season!!
Which brings me on to Shearings coach holidays. Shearings offer either half or full board so that takes care of most of the food. They also look after petrol (well OK, diesel in the case of their coaches!) and the road tolls. All we had to worry about was the bar bill and sun cream. In all, for me, the missus, and a 6 year old lad, it cost us £850 half board for 7 nights in resort and 3 days travel.
Straightaway, we saw the value for ...

We used Shearings for the first time in December 2002 to go to the snow for Christmas. Two years earlier we had been on a similar holiday with another company.
We chose the Shearings holiday from their brochure on the grounds of length of holiday available, destination and description of accommodation and excursions etc. Since we have two children, then 7 and 9 yrs of age, we were also looking for something that would suit them.
We chose an ...

Advantages: Lots of holidays on offer, can get some real bargains! Disadvantages: If you don't like sitting for long periods....it isn't for you!
...holidays!! I first travelled with Shearings (they've now merged with Wallace Arnold) with my parents when I was 13. We went to Lido Di Jesolo in Italy. I'm now 36 and have been to Spain, Italy, Slovenia and Poland with Shearings (in 3 weeks I'm off to Belgium with them) and I've been to France and Austria with rival coach companies.
There's a huge range of destinations, but I'll put them into 2 simple categories.
1) Overnight Express: you stay ...

Just come back from the Beresford Newquay worth a visit ,good food ,friendly staff . The room we had was really pleasant ,overall good value for money.
Advantages: EASE OF TRAVEL AND MOST MEALS CATERED Disadvantages: CAN'T THINK OF ANY!
...It
was
magical - I cannot praise Shearings too highly for making the
experience
so memorable. We flew from the USA and joined my son in the UK
who had
booked the holiday via Uniglobe Gemini Travel, Ashford,
Middlesex, UK.
From start to finish the nine day tour went without a hitch. The
coach
was extremely comfortable - in fact our second home .
Our excellent driver and tour guide Glen was so friendly, with a
great
sense of humour and ...

Advantages: ideal for non flyers wishing to travel to the warmer climate of the med. Disadvantages: NOT A TRIP FOR CHILDREN WHO WILL GET RESTLESS ON A LONG COACH JOURNEY
August 2007 Holiday with WA Shearings to Sorrento and Amalfi Coast
Italy. Using the Grand Tourer Service. August 2007.
Decided on this type of holiday as my wife had taken a dislike to flying!
This seemed the best option of a holiday abroad, in the sun.
This particular tour offered a 6 night stay at a resort (SORRENTO)
Others are based on a total Touring option.
Organisation.
Our Holiday began at our chosen pick up point where my wife ...

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
We booked a holiday to Scotland and it was confirmed by e-mail and paid for. We were supposed to be travelling on the Saturday and as we had not received the documents with the time of the bus departure we rang and were told there was no availbility and the holiday had been cancelled!!!!!
Apparently they rang us once - did not get an answer and did not even think of leaving a message on the answer machine - or think to ring ...

Can I say that I treated this trip with some sceptisism. A coach from the UK to explore Italy seemed a long journey with boredom a constant threat. What a joy to be proven totally wrong. The journey to and from seemed to race by. Great commentries from the drivers, lots of advice on what to do and not to do. If you need to see Italy in an abreaviated fashion then this has to be the trip especially in their luxury coaches. Every whim or complaints were treated equaly and with promptness. Full marks to Shearings for a great Italian holiday

Went to Croatia with WAShearings in September 2007. The Grand Tourer coach was great, plenty of legroom and more room between the two seats. The hotels were all of a good standard, the food sometimes predictable, sometimes tasty.
As usual the days were long and northern France boring and Germany beset by traffic delays.
The disadvantage . . . our driver/courier was OK as a driver but rubbish as a courier. Very disorganised. The coach started dirty and at the end of the fortnight was very dirty. The GPS was "programmed incorrectly" and the CDs did not work after a local guide stopped them to play some local music. He had to be reminded to switch the water on for the drinks, and that was after he had persuaded us to keep HIM plied with coffee. He was also very good at not telling groups of people what next day's times were.!

Advantages: Got to see alot of Scotland Disadvantages: Poor customer service, uncomfortable seating.
Shearings have there good and bad points.
First the bad.
Don't book with Shearings if you want to go on holiday on a specific date.
I booked a 5 day holiday to the Tarbet hotel in Scotland in February for the 21st of July for our silver wedding which was on the 23rd.
I paid in full 8 weeks before departure and then 6 weeks before departure Shearings wrote to me saying they had to cancel the holiday due to lack of numbers.
I could either have ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Everything - especially the staff!!!
...a LLandudno weekend with WA Shearings and it was appalling as was the coach driver, who was Welsh and was the most unhelpful, sarcastic person I have ever met. We left Yorkshire at 10am and got to LLandudno at 4pm! So much for a weekend as we left at 9am the next morning! Stops in LLangollen - where we spent more time in the village than we did in Llandudno before the shops shut - on the way and a detour through the Welsh countryside - the A55 is ...

You were lucky that all went well. Shearings cancelled our holiday twice and then you find out what customer service is all about. In their case Nil. Not the company for me I am afraid. Totally unhelpful and without any regard for hurt feelings. I would not like to trust myself to travelling with this company.

Advantages: fantastic European coach holiday Disadvantages: UK Coach holidays very disappointing
This company operates both in the UK and on the European mainland .yet the two difference coaching holiday are "chalk and cheese" The European coach holidays are virtually faultless.Ook you maybe on a coach a bit too long sometimes.Apart from that nothing but praise WELL DONE
The UK Coaching holiday is nowhere near the standard or value for money one expect.
Our advice would be to "Becareful ,check out the coach travelling times ,make sure that ...
