Stinky, Busy and Very English.

Advantages: Scenery
Disadvantages: Beaches, Litter.

Me and my fiancé Dave were in Corfu just last week and although we stayed in a place called Canal D'amour, when we were looking at the brochures it was very attractive that there was a larger and busier resort just a 1km walk away called Sidari. On our second day on holiday we decided to go and have a walk there hoping that the descriptions of bustling shops, restaurants and bars and long golden sandy beach was accurate. We actually visited only ...
...two stars and here is why. ------ First Impressions: On our way to our actual resort we had to pass through Sidari and from what I remember as I was quite tired on the coach it looked very much like a shanty town. All of the buildings looked like they desperately just needed some paint and the main street had no pavements so people were literally dodging out of the way to get out of the way of cars and coaches. I also remember looking at the roads ...

Brilliant Place, Brilliant People, some annoying points.

Advantages: Loads to do, great weather, lovely people, cheap
Disadvantages: hard to get around, constantly bothered by shop/bar owners.

...about on the roads in Sidari, every car has a dent and you just walk around witnessing accidents by the hour. I'm sure they have no idea how to drive over there. The roads are most definitely a death trap. If you do opt to go out by coach to other resorts (probably the safest way to get around) then it will take a long time to get anywhere due to the nature of the roads making getting around very slow. I think we had done most things in the week ...
...than a week before either going home or moving on. We paid £250 to go and I believe we got an absolute bargain. There is loads to do, friendly people and we came back feeling refreshed and really good sporting a great tan :). Overall I would recommend Sidari to those looking for a couples get away or family destination. Those looking for a remote destination or a lads or gals holiday should look elsewhere. ...

Canal d' Amour in Sidari

Advantages: great friendly locals, cheap to purchase things, etc
Disadvantages: a little bit of rain

...to cause any trouble. In Sidari, there was not trouble with anyone; it was just like one big family. During the day, there was plenty to do all the time, weather you like to dine, sleep, being active, or sight seeing. I did a mixture of all these. I even hired out a cycle (which is very unlike me on holiday) and cycled to various parts of the island during the day. This was like an excursion in itself as I saw some stunning sight seeing sites, local ...
...is advisable to go to Sidari, as this is the best place of the whole island. Kavos is like another Blackpool but a lot worse. It did not seem that attractive or much there, apart from the nightlife (which it is recommended to go on the company’s pub crawl there, but then again it is the 18 – 30’s hot spot). This is a good choice for anyone that likes a good time. (Personally, I did not want to leave there as I was having too much ...

Go it alone - fantastic!!!!!

Advantages: Do what you want to, when you want to......
Disadvantages: Strange at first

I know there are a lot of reviews about Corfu but I just had to add my "tuppence worth" - as I love the place. I also hope my story of "going it along" will help others to pluck up the courage and go...... "You must be mad", some people said. Others said I was very brave, that they could never do it. Perhaps I was a little of both, with a touch of determination and desperation thrown in for good measure. What was this awful deed I had done? I had ...
...This is a plight faced by many single women every year, and I was no exception. My husband had died in 1982, leaving me to bring up my children, then aged 4 and 7 years, single-handed. Apart from spending a week at a holiday camp with the children, our holidays had been restricted to visiting parents and in-laws. Much as I wanted to, I just didn't have the courage to 'go it alone'. All I needed was a gentle push, which I received in 1986 when my ...

Sidari, Corfu - a great place to visit

Advantages: Great restaurants, pubs and beach
Disadvantages:

If you’re looking for a great ‘couple’ holiday, then I can recommend Sidari in Corfu as a place where you’ll find loads to do and all that you need to have a brilliant holiday (provided you’ve got the right partner!). You’ll also find sun, sea and sand and a gorgeous beach where, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try out some cool water sports. You’ll find good food in the restaurants in Sidari and, in my favourite, the ‘3 Little Pigs’, you ...
...meal. There is a real friendly atmosphere in the bars and for the lads and girls who can’t do without their football, you’ll find that many of the pubs will have the big English football matches on the TV. There are a few nightclubs in the town centre and plenty of shops and small tourist shops which offer trips to places such as ‘Corfu Town’. Our holiday to Sidari was by the far the best I’ve had and we definitely plan to go back there some time ...

Sidari

Advantages: Great value for money destination
Disadvantages: Arduous coach transfer for the travel sick

We took a family holiday to Sidari this year - two adults two children. Sidari is situated to the North of the island and it takes a while to get there from Corfu town. The journey zig zags over the mountains but it is well worth the bumpy sometimes disconcerting ride. The beaches are brilliant nice sand for the kids, as is normal the people very friendly and helpful. The perfect place to go with children if they are happy to entertain themselves ...
...The 3 little pigs is a must for at least one meal but try them all if you have the time. We had looked through several brochures before booking with Kosmar, who worked out the cheapest for the time we went, this concerned us a little but we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a new apartment overlooking a pool surrounded by 7 blocks of 4 and a snack bar. I will be going back. ...

Canal D'Amour, Sidari

Advantages: Everyone is really friendly
Disadvantages: Pebbly beaches

I go to Sidari every July on holiday. Apartments I stay in the Hawaii apartments. The apartments I stay in are very clean, the rooms are a decent size. The pool is also clean. There is a shallow area for toddlers. Area I find that every one is really friendly. Canal D'Amour is basically 1 street. Then you go over a little bridge to the main part of Sidari which is full of little girt shops etc. Canal D'Amour is mainly filled with restaurants and ...
...There are many little beaches. You can hire pedalos for an hour. You can swim out a few metres to little caves n islands etc. The beaches are quite quiet but the main beach does get quite busy. It is extremely cheap in Corfu. You can rent out bicycles for two pounds a day and explore some of the surroundings. There are many water sports around the island. There are little shops where you can store your belongings away and you have access to it about ...

Sidari not as attractive as the rest of Corfu

Advantages: Busy
Disadvantages: Too touristy

I visited Sidari on 2 seperate holidays to Corfu and both times found it to be extremely busy and not as attractive as other parts of the island. Sidari was very much for the tourists, like Blackpool for England. I think its maybe a good resort if you have children with you and need plenty of activity, but I wouldnt recommend it for people looking for a relaxing break. We stayed at Roda which had a much quieter and cleaner beach. The Sidari beach ...

sidari- corfu

Advantages: fantastic family holiday
Disadvantages: busy in summer

My family have visited this resort many times, It is a fantastic destination for a quiet by day but busy at night holiday, The beach is pure sand and a very safe place for the kids to play, the locals are very welcoming to visitors and cannot do enough to help you. At night the resort comes to life with plenty of tavernas and bars to please every taste from family bars to the open air disco. If you get the chance to visit corfu town do so as the ...
...The food is very reasonably priced and good sized portions are served. We also went on a trip to a greek night where for less than twenty british pounds we had a meal and a show plus unlimited drinks which we all enjoyed. I can fully reccommend Sidari to everybody as the only problem we had was when we had to leave ...

Gorgeous place

Advantages: Very pretty
Disadvantages: busy

I went to sidari in corfu 2 years ago, and found it to be absolutely gorgeous. The sea is really nice blue, and the beaches r great. We stayed in some apartments over looking the sea, it was amazing when we woke up as we traveled in the night and couldn't see the veiw from the balcony. But in the morning we looked out and was amazed by the view of the sea so close. Really gorgeous place. The appartments wern't great but the place was truly amazing. ...
...lot of english people there, most people i think we saw were english. Also there are lot of british pubs and resteraunts. But more greek one's which are amazing you can even watch films at the bars for free when you buy a drink. The food is delicious, all sorts of greek dishs. I loved going here, it has been my favourite holiday, even tho i havn't been loads of places this is my favorite. It was rather busy though. Really nice place to go, also the ...

having just returned from sidari i felt i had to let other people who have not been just what they are missing out on. we stayed at the beach star hotel a small hotel run by a handful of lovely staff who catered for our every need the hotel was situated around 500m away from all the main bars and restaurants with a seafront location attractions are a plenty with a visit to the canal d'amour village just a ten min walk from the main street in sidari ...
