    Me and my fiancé Dave were in Corfu just last week and although we stayed in a place called Canal D'amour, when we were looking at the brochures it was very attractive that there was a larger and busier resort just a 1km walk away called Sidari. On our second day on holiday we decided to go and have a walk there hoping that the descriptions of bustling shops, restaurants and bars and long golden sandy beach was accurate.     Disadvantages Disadvantages hard to get around, constantly bothered by shop/bar owners.

    I went to Corfu 13th-21st July of this year (2009) with my girlfriend. We stayed at hotel Monika. Sidari is the second largest resort on the island of Corfu after Kavos. The transfer from the airport takes roughly 1.5-2 hours. It is a very beautiful place with places to just look out at the ocean or watch the sunset in the evenings but without all the trouble that comes with an 18-30 holiday destination. There are ample things to do in the day, with gorgeous weather you can just lay on one of the beaches or by the pool at your hotel and catch the sun. If you want more to do with your day ... more

    This year was the first time that I have been to Corfu and the third time I have been in Greece as I have only generally been to Spain of France. On this occasion, I decided that I needed a change of scenery to another island and went to Sidari in Corfu with once again Thomson Travel. I stayed in the Canal d’ Amour area of Sidari where there are little private beaches that fill up very fast. Talking to many people, this was found to be the nicest part of the island.     I know there are a lot of reviews about Corfu but I just had to add my "tuppence worth" - as I love the place. I also hope my story of "going it along" will help others to pluck up the courage and go...... "You must be mad", some people said. Others said I was very brave, that they could never do it. Perhaps I was a little of both, with a touch of determination and desperation thrown in for good measure. What was this awful deed I had done?     If you’re looking for a great ‘couple’ holiday, then I can recommend Sidari in Corfu as a place where you’ll find loads to do and all that you need to have a brilliant holiday (provided you’ve got the right partner!). You’ll also find sun, sea and sand and a gorgeous beach where, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try out some cool water sports. You’ll find good food in the restaurants in Sidari and, in my favourite, the ‘3 Little Pigs’, you also get entertained with Greek dancing as you eat your meal.     Sidari was in our opinion a good holiday destination. The beach was okay- not brilliant but there are lots of pool bars around that you can use. The main road is a bit "british" for our liking but if you move away from that one road of bars and shops you find the more local taverna's and cafes. If you make the effort to learn a few words of Greek, the effort is appreciated. The locals are very friendly and you do not get hassled, apart from for the bars on the main strip. We stayed just outside of Sidari and enjoyed it as it was quieter. There is plenty of choice of places to eat, but if ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Arduous coach transfer for the travel sick

    We took a family holiday to Sidari this year - two adults two children. Sidari is situated to the North of the island and it takes a while to get there from Corfu town. The journey zig zags over the mountains but it is well worth the bumpy sometimes disconcerting ride. The beaches are brilliant nice sand for the kids, as is normal the people very friendly and helpful. The perfect place to go with children if they are happy to entertain themselves on the sands, in the water etc. The 3 little pigs is a must for at least one meal but try them all if you have the time.     I go to Sidari every July on holiday. Apartments I stay in the Hawaii apartments. The apartments I stay in are very clean, the rooms are a decent size. The pool is also clean. There is a shallow area for toddlers. Area I find that every one is really friendly. Canal D'Amour is basically 1 street. Then you go over a little bridge to the main part of Sidari which is full of little girt shops etc. Canal D'Amour is mainly filled with restaurants and bars. There is a night club just over the bridge. There are many little beaches. You can hire pedalos for an hour. You can swim out a few metres to ... more

    I visited Sidari on 2 seperate holidays to Corfu and both times found it to be extremely busy and not as attractive as other parts of the island. Sidari was very much for the tourists, like Blackpool for England. I think its maybe a good resort if you have children with you and need plenty of activity, but I wouldnt recommend it for people looking for a relaxing break. We stayed at Roda which had a much quieter and cleaner beach. The Sidari beach had a few stray dogs running about on it, which isnt very pleasant as they are very dirty/smelly.     Disadvantages Disadvantages busy in summer

    My family have visited this resort many times, It is a fantastic destination for a quiet by day but busy at night holiday, The beach is pure sand and a very safe place for the kids to play, the locals are very welcoming to visitors and cannot do enough to help you. At night the resort comes to life with plenty of tavernas and bars to please every taste from family bars to the open air disco.
