    I have just returned from a wonderful 2 week holiday at the Silver Beach Hotel, on the East Coast of Mauritius. It's a 3 * hotel, with 5 * service. ACCOMMODATION We arrived at Silver Beach early afternoon, tired from a 12 hour flight. We were given a warm welcome by the staff and had a lovely refreshing cocktail, whilst we filled in our registration card. Our first impression was that the hotel was a little plain and could do with a coat of paint - but that was just the corridors and the exterior of the building.     We visited Silver Beach Hotel on Mauritius in September 2001 on an all inclusive package holiday with Kuoni. For my wife this was a return visit as she had lived there with the Royal Navy 30 years ago. The whole experience was a delight from start to finish. The Silver Beach really is set right on the beach and comprises two kinds of accomodation. The main hotel is a 3 storey building, every room has a view of the sea and being on the east coast there is always a welcome breeze.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Hotel? Says who? I wonder where they got the stars!

    Well, are you planning to go to Mauritius? Read this first, it might change your mind. The Illes Maurice (Mauritius) are a beautiful place to visit, you will see your good share of tropical rainforest (which now covers only 1% of the main island), white sands, coral (alive and dead), speed boats and… loads of tourists! It’s not as packed as Ibiza or the Algarve would be, it can be fairly quiet at times (April-June) but make sure you choose the right accommodation. Don’t be tricked by brochures.     I have just returned from the Silver Beach, having read the reviews on CIAO and some other websites. I went with trepidation for my honeymoon, not enitrely sure what awaited me. I was surprisingly impressed, the hotel is a 3*+ though despite this it was very good. Room: Was a decent size with a king size bed. We didn't get a sea view room due to the hotel being pretty full. Theirs also a mini bar which is stocked daily with soft drinks and the local beer, Phoenix - not bad. Restaurant: Excellent, clean and waitors very courteous and polite every night.     I have just had a holiday at Silver Beach Hotel, Mauritius. I cannot fault it really, the accomodation, staff, food, beach were all excellent. I went with my Sister and best friend, we had 2 glorious weeks there, we had the threat of cyclone Hennie, which albeit a little scary, quite exciting too, we were WELL looked after by ALL the staff. The rooms were spotless, cleaned everyday, including fresh bedding EVERY DAY. the bar staff were all really nice, management always willing to help with any query, now we come to the restaurant staff...     I went to the Silver Beach in March 2001 for my Honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. The weather was perfect, staff all excellent and could not do enough for you. The entertainment was good and we got on really well with the 'Country Boys' and ended up on stage with them!! The bar was nice with drinks all day and we enjoyed it so much we will be going back soon and taking our friends. Taxi's are available outside the front door to take you anywhere on the island and will wait for you while you shop. Meals are very good and the buffets are great.     We have just returned from a 3 week holiday at silver beach hotel. After reading many positive reviews we were very disappointed to find that the hotel fell short of these. The pool is extremely small, deep and lies directly in front of the restaurant. The service was overbearing and annoying. We were frequently moved after sitting down to eat as we had not sat at the table we sat at on the first night. They were obsessed with clearing cutlery and plates disturbing your conversation, and frequently before you'd finished eating.     Dear Reader, The hotel is on first impression not as up market as the surrounding 5 stars but really very acceptable, however the food is absolutely fab. My partner an ex chef could not fault the food and friendly service and nor could I. The hotel is very nice, we visited other 5 star hotels on the island and found the staff at SBH could not be bettered. This hotels friendliness can't be bottled! Dan the Manager of the resturant has come from 5 star and it shows, his Customer Relationship Management is second to none.     It is a very nice, safe,cozy and beautiful place. The people over there are really nice and ready to help. My husband took me for a holiday in the hotel and we were really amazed by the hospitality we were offered. The food was really tasty and we had the enjoyed all varities of fresh seafood. We had great fun in the outdoor activities like deep sea diving, water skiing and not mentioning the the blue and clear lagoon.     A PARTY OF 12 VISITED SILVER BEACH IN OCTOBER 2002 FOR MY BROTHERS WEDDING. THE ROOMS WERE CLEANED EVERY DAY WITH FRESH BEDDING AND THE MINI BAR IN THE ROOMS WERE STOCKED DAILY AND WERE ALL FREE OF CHARGE. THE SPEEDBOAT TRIP IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST, THIS WAY WE GOT A TRIP TO PARADISE ISLAND TO HAVE A BBQ WITH SOME OF THE NATIVES. MY DAUGHTER OF 5YRS WAS TREAT LIKE A PRINCESS BY THE HOTEL STAFF, AND BEING A FUSSY EATER DAN THE RESTAURANT MANAGER PREPARED SPECIAL FOODS FOR HER.
