Advantages: Great Atmosphere, Fast Cars, Not Just F1 Disadvantages: Very loud, Expensive, Hotel accomodation hard to find
...Bernie Ecclestone announced that the Silverstone, British Grand Prix would be removed from the FIA 2005 race calendar for Formula one. The supposed reasons for this removal were that Silverstone were unable to pay enough for the rights to host the race and that the facilities were very out of date compared to the new tracks of Bahrain and Beijing. In July 2004 I attended the Grand Prix and this is my account of the weekend.
Since around March time during my final GCSE year my school were organising a school trip for some reason to the British Grand Prix for sixth formers of which I was not one, but numbers were down and I was asked whether I would attend because I was an avid racing fan and wouldn't give up this opportunity of attending one of the sporting ...

...the Touring car events at Silverstone, which promises high action and drama without the hefty price tag of a F1 ticket! Touring car tickets cost about £25 for the entire weekend, and as little as £10 for a day, so it is worth checking out. If you are really a big F1 fan then once in a lifetime it may be worth going to see a Friday or Saturday F1 practice -just for the sheer experience and to actually hear the phenomenal sound of a F1 car!! Some circuits ... ...his first ever win at Silverstone, Michael Schumacher was 2nd, Barrichello 3rd and Montoya finished in 4th place (he probably could have come 2nd or 3rd), but still an outstanding performance from Montoya starting from 8th position. It has been noted that Ferrari were on a somewhat "conservative strategy" for Silverstone this year. Whatever it was a finish is a finish and better to score some points than none at all by blowing a new engine/component ...

EEyy-up, here comes that lunatic again...Is this the talk of people walking past the nearest asylum ??? No, it's spectators at a motor race meeting talking about the guys on the other side of the fence - those unpaid volunteers - the marshals. You have then learnt the first aspect of the activity, it costs money . The next thing the aspiring ...

Advantages: Beautiful, thrilling spectacle. Disadvantages: ITV. Adverts every three minutes AND Murray Walker.
The British Grand-Prix dawns, and the steely-eyed warriors stride forth to engage in battle once more.
There are two schools of thought concerning Formula 1 racing; on the one hand are those who have no intention of watching twenty-two idiots drive around in a circle for two hours, on the other are the people who believe they are watching a unique and challenging sporting contest, where death occasionally attends as more than a spectator. ...breathed air at. And at Silverstone, a flat circuit in the middle of a flat area – there’s an awfully large amount of air moving around to be breathed. ...only one real alternative to Silverstone, Donington Park. Brands Hatch is simply too small – the money required to develop it is too large to justify shifting the location of Britain’s race further south. Donington’s major advantage is that it geographically more central than Silverstone, but it too would require significant investment to become a major contender for hosting the British Grand Prix. Silverstone itself is a great race track. Track yes, but Im afraid on facilities, no. While most other F1 circuits, like the new circuit at Indianapolis, have great facilities, Silverstone is seriously lacking. Silverstone was not designed to cope with this number of spectators, the local roads are too small ... ...the race was moved later in the season, and although the race meeting encountered main during practise, both the race day and the qualifying session were dry.
A massive investment has been made after last years problems, which includes new car parking, new facilities and in a few years time a whole new paddock area along with changes to the design of the track which should make it a more exciting track for races to take place on. Silverstone isn't ...

The Silverstone circuit has always been great for racing. No matter what formula is on the track the crowd always gets a great view. From the start/finish straight you can see a good portion of the circuit and the big screen shows action happening on the rest of the track. Advantages: Traditional Disadvantages: Boring, bad carparks(!) no fantastic features i.e: 130R/Loews etc....
Sadly, Silverstone, like most British products is a shambles. This season's (2000) race held at Silverstone was an utter shambles. It almost made one feel embarrassed to be English. The car-parks were amazingly muddy, and the weather wasn't wet enough nor dry enough to make a decent race. The race was incredibly boring, at least a Scotsman managed to win the race but that is little consolation as most if not all the front-runners retired.
The track ... ...Hatch. Donington and Snetterton make for much more exciting racing but sadly these tracks do not have the facilities anymore to host a Grand Prix meeting.
If you compare Silverstone to tracks such as Hockenheim, Spa, Monza, even the Hungaoring, Silverstone is made to look decidedly dull.
All these tracks have particularly characteristics - the most famous being Monaco, but Silverstone - nothing. Hanger straight is too short for a pit straight. ...

Formula 1 fans in ' the - know ' will head for the test sessions at Silverstone rather than arce day alone. The race day experience has its own magic, but for both the real enthusiast and novice alike, test sessions offer a truely excellant experience.

The best sessions to attend are the big ones involving all the teams. Again, this fact can be established from the already suggested web site sources.
Usually sessions run from 10 am - 1 pm. ...

Advantages: brilliant entertainment Disadvantages: expensive
We visited Silverstone in 1998 to watch the British Grand Prix. I have never been to any other circuit to watch the Grand Prix so I have nothing to compare it with but it was a great day out even if it was a little expensive.
