    Singapore Airlines. As part of my recent trip to Penang, Malaysia we were given the choice of airlines to get us out there. Seeing Singapore airlines were available for a £30 supplement I thought we would give it a try due to its reputation as a five star airline. Once confirmation was made that we were now booked on Singapore airlines I had a look at the connection timings in Singapore. Our connection between flights was 50 minutes however on Singapore’s web site they ask that there is a minimum of one hour between connecting flights.     As a nervous flyer, the excitement of a holiday abroad is for me always tempered by the thought of the discomfort I’ll experience getting there and back. I’m ashamed to admit that when we were invited recently to stay with a relative in Singapore, my first reaction was nervousness about the 13 hour flight that the trip would entail, as my previous experiences on long-haul flights had not been good.     An armchair in the sky. I'd never flown Singapore Airlines on my long-haul flights to and from New Zealand, my home country, and now I must ask myself why? I have used three other major airlines and they definitely do not come anywhere near the service and comfort of Singapore Airlines. I flew at a busy time, four flights to and from Kiwi Land early December (2005) and late February (2006) so all trips were a full plane and this I believe is a good time to judge how staff cope with people of all nations, cooped up in a confined space and no-where else to go! .     Well, when I was working in warehouses and things before uni, if you'd have told me I'd have been galavanting around the atmosphere flying first class, I'd have called you a fruit loop and have awaited the van with the padded walls to have appeared. However, for reasons that will become known, I did just that today! The context: I'm quite brand loyal, VERY when it comes to some brands, including Virgin!     As many of you know, I am a frequent flyer on several of the major airlines. My travels have taken me to many parts of the world on several different airlines, some good, some bad, some not worth mentioning. This is an extremely long review. So, you have been warned!     I flew Singapore Airlines, in economy, on the first two legs of a round the world trip with Star Alliance. They were without question the best two flights of the trip, and among the best flights I have ever taken (and I have been flying regularly since I was an infant). My route with SA was Manchester to Singapore, then after a four day stopover, Singapore to Auckland. I flew out on Thursday morning, which is the one day of the week when SA flies a Boeing 747 on this route (as opposed to a 777) and there is a stopover of about 90 minutes in Zurich, rather than the direct flight.     Disadvantages Disadvantages flights are really full now because the airline is so successful!

    Where to start, where to start.... Singapore Airlines fares are definitely a shade more expensive than say BA or any other leading airline that flies to Singapore, but remember you have paid a premium and you are getting an excellent service. On average you will pay over £4,000 for a first class ticket (return) from London Heathrow (Term 3) to Singapore Changi Airport, but "oh, my, god!" it is definitely worth it. For those of us not made of money (or who have to pay for our own flights) return flights in coach are a shade under £800. These are the fares taken from the website, but I am sure ... more

The history of the airline can however be traced back to 1947 when Malayan Airlines began operating internal flights within Malaysia.     Absolutely 1st class pretty much sums up this hotel in the air service. Recently I travelled to Australia, and coming from Northern Ireland this meant that I had to travel to Heathrow first, before getting my connecting flight. So I was obviously looking for the cheapest option, and to my great surprise Singapore Airlines fitted the bill (literally). I was previously not going to include the price because of me travelling from Dublin to London on another airline, but I have been asked to include it, so I will!     This is my first review, and I'm a 15 year old, so my appologies if this isn't detailed anough or lacking anything. We flew Singapore Airlines to New Zealand to visit family and were going to a wedding. We decided on Singapore Airlines because Singapore was located more or less in the centre of London and Auckland.
