...going to boarding school in Singapore I came to know Singapore's ariport very well. It, like most of Singapore is clean and friendly, and I can honestly say it is the best airport I have ever been to.
Terminal 2 is where most international flights come through, where as Terminal 1 is more for domestic flights. Arriving there though can be extremely daunting as the airport itself is massive and it is extremely easy to get lost if you dont know your ... ...to the other terminal which has much less to offer. Lastly if you are in transit, I would recommend going one of the airport's tours of the island as it shows you some of the main sights, and give you an insight into Singapore life and culture. ...

...and quiet by myself since Singapore is so small. I particularly like to go to the spacious viewing gallery in terminal Two when I feeling bored or depressed. Watching air planes take off is an enjoyment to me. My good friends and I would have a dinner gathering each year at one of the airport restaurants. It is the place which reminds me of my O' levels which I spent much time revising at the viewing gallery, the place which provides air conditioning ... ...gallery, Changi Airport booasts a large number of restaurants, cafes, shops and of course the DFS (duty free shop). The perfume shops are my favourite hunt. And being smoke-free (except for a smoking room at a far corner), it is a favorite place for family outings as well.
If you happen to be at Changi Airport, do take time to go to the viewing gallery. And not to forget to pop into the DFS to get huge discount on quality goods. ...

...I had to stop in Singapore Airport for five hours. It was two in the morning and all were nackered, but we couldn't help taking in the fantasticness of this place.
The airport management seem to be totally convinced that nobody can get bored at their airport. So they keep all the shops open throughout the night, and they actually only close for lunch.
You will also find that bands or music groups and choirs will turn up and play at ridiculous times. ... ...of the cinema points, and watch some of the latest films?
All the toilets are immaculate, and the staff are extremely pleasant. The floors are all clean, and I managed to see a woman on her hands and knees polishing a metal joint on the floor.
Next to the newly-refurbished VIP lounge, you will find a sort of 'internal garden.' There is a very calming mood around this place, and you can sit on one of the banches and listen to the stream trickling.

Singapore Changi International Airport is a perfect entry point to Singapore,the "Mighty Midget" at the heart of South East Asia.This remarkably efficient airport,once a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp,is a huge,glistening,state-of-the-art airtropolis that pilots,passengers and crtics all rave about. I visited singapore airport twice for connecting flights to Sydney Australia. The airport gave me an impression that singapore would be a great place to visit. I know airports are clean, but this airport was so clean. I think that there are many amenities there, including some great places to eat food. A vast selection of duty free products is also present. THe amount of electrical goods of a high technology were available at duty free prices.

I arrived at Singapore airport after a 13 hour flight from London Heathrow , my first ever flight, at the start of a 4 month holiday world tour. The initial impressions that i gained were ones of such high levels of cleanliness which was the same where ever i went in Singapore. It did make me wonder why ever city and airport could not be this clean. As a new traveller by my self I was a little disorientated in this new country especially after the ... ...me through customs and on to baggage collection anf to my driver waiting with a limousine.
This may sound extravagant ot some but the cost worked out approximatly the same as a taxi as I had prebooked it via the internet before my departure from London and included a return dropoff back to the airport for my departure. Many pass through Singapore Aiport as it is often used as a stop-over on the way to Australasia. Even if you are not staying overnight, or perhaps for a bit longer, you are likely to spend a few hours here while your plane is cleaned and refuelled etc.
The first thing to strike me about this particular airport is its extremely high standards of cleanliness. I have honestly never seen any public place more immaculate. It is beautifully decorated ... ...as well as souvenirs of Singapore itself. Look out for extremely cheap cigarettes. There is also a florist selling orchids which are also very cheap and make a nice gift to take home with you (you currently can't take them into Australia though, due to the country's strict rules to help keep out agricultural diseases).
Situated close to the boarding gates in the departures area is an outdoors cactus garden. This is a really charming little area ...

...I must tell you about Singapore Airport. It is everything that Heathrow isn't.
First of all let me tell you if you are catching another flight and are in-transit the signs are very clear and point you in the right direction. You may have quite a long walk ahead of you but the ambiance of the airport makes your journey seem shorter. There are lots of moving walkways and shops along the way.
Shops in the main area are well set out with varied prices. ... ...are well stocked and beautiful singapore girls are there to help you make your choice of perfume and spirits and they will even carry your basket to the counter and ask the flight number to help move the queues along at the checkout.
There is a 'no-smoking' policy and everywhere is clean and spotless. A garden area is set up in the middle with a pond of Koi Carp. A band of musicians were playing music when I was there and it had a wonderful atmosphere.

...beer in the bars but Singapore in general is an expensive place to drink so that is to be expected.
Overall this should be a model for other airports. It's about the only one I actively look forward to spending a few hours in. Changi - It's almost a destination in itself!
PS (added after Karens comment) On the one occasion that I have actually begun a journey in Singapore the check-in at Changi was swift and efficient for me, the staff were courteous ...

What an introduction to the Far East! Arriving at Changi Airport you could be stepping out into any modern 'western' international airport. Then you realise that something is different, the place is spotless - not a drop of litter anywhere!. The airport is very well organised and the staff are friendly and helpful. Changi Singapore airport is best airport worldwide till the boarding time comes.
The concept of security screening at each gate generates every time a long line there and then, using a single airbridge to board the aircraft, the priority for First and Business class as well as families with small children is never achieved despite the efforts of ground staff as oce boarding time is called everybody ruch to the gate.
