    Earlier this year, I rented a car when I was on a one-day trip in Brussels, Belgium. Previously, I always used public transport or taxi when I was visiting a foreign city.     The Italian job? It's me been done by this woeful car hire company, sign up with them at your peril. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. In early July I flew from the UK to Rome Ciampino airport for a family holiday. I chose to book a family car, E class (Renault Scenic, Fiat Stilo class) with Sixt as the previous summer we booked with Hertz and the queues for the car hire desk were enormous and I seem to remember that the Sixt queue was short.     Disadvantages Disadvantages HIRING A CAR FROM THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE

    Sixt is the most negligent and un-customer friendly car hire agency around. It's been 3 months and we are still dealing with their negligence. First off, we made an online reservation for a diesel vehicle and upon retrieval at the Sixt Branch we received a verbal confirmation that the car we received was in fact diesel. Following that confirmation, we put diesel in the vehicle later that evening. Within two miles, the car broke down. After calling the breakdown assistance hotline noted on the receipt, we were told to wait for an hour for RAC assistance. We then had to wait for the next three ... more

    We rented 2 cars from sixt for 12 days while visiting Germany and Italy. Getting the cars was easy we took the extra insurance so that if anything happened there wouldn't be a problem. While driving to Italy my Brother-in-laws car was out of oil and we had to stop and buy oil so the car won't break down. They didn't care when the car was returned! We scratched the bumper of our car on a rock - no big deal it was about 6 inches long. When we returned it, we informed them of the scratch, they went over the car with a fine tooth comb and "found" 4 places were the car was damaged. We told them we ... more

    We rented a car from Sixt for a week in England. We wanted insurance protection and chose Sixt because insurance was included in the rate. While driving on paved roads in the Cotswolds we had a flat tire from a puncture that required a new tire. Sixt said we must pay for the tire even though we had paid for the insurance. We have had flat tires before on rental cars but have never been required to pay for the tire. In the future we will rent from one of the major car rentals instead.

    When I called Sixt car rental in Battersea, London asking if it would be ok to keep the car an extra day, I was told no problem. I was even told that they would sort it out with their head office so that I would keep the spacial rates. When I returned the car, I asked to see the final cost (yes you have to ask for it). My extra day cost me over twice the initial daily rate, and no one mentioned on the phone either that there is an extra £10 for late return.     If you plan to rent a car in France Never rent a car in Sixt!!! Awful service, rude staff. French service was so crappy for some reason.. We rented a car in June 2011. We spent more than an 1.30 hours in the line (while others companies were really fast and let people go for 2-3 minutes), we were given not the car we ordered and - moreover - it was mechanical gearbox and not automatic - as we ordered online and paid in advance. All our complaints and even scandal! were totally ignored, hotline did not answer for more than 15 minutes, manager said that he does not have any other cars and does ... more

    I always rent cars with Sixt in Germany. I did an online booking on the 6th November 2012 and booked a VW Golf/Opel Astra/Ford Fiesta type of car for my wife and I who were gonna be in Frankfurt/Wiesbaden for 5 days. I completed the online reservation and paid EUR 262.95 for the car which I would collect on the 12th November upon arrival in Frankfurt Airport. My Credit Card was debited on the 8th November with the said agreed amount. After almost 14 hours flying, we arrived in Frankfurt and went to the SIXT counter where I was told that the category of car booked is not available but the lady ... more

    We made an online reservation at sixt.nl for two days for a car and made the mistake to choose for the prepaid option which safed us around 10 euros at time of booking. BIG MISTAKE! Instead of two days we only used the car for one day and handed it back after one day on time. To our suprise we couldn't get any refund for the not used second day. Following sixt "rules" in the moment you prepay any refund is made impossible! In our opinion that is ridiculouse and we really wounder if that is actual leagal.
