Went to the restaurant on the middle floor - which serves a sort of tapas style food, not especially Spanish but served in small dishes for sharing.
Like the oysters and had a great bottle of red wine (though no idea what it was other than it was Ozzie and oaky).
Pretty busy place and a bit loud for me but I guess I'm just getting old.
Seemed a bit pricey at £93 for thre of us though £30 of that was the wine but we didn't have anything other than the main course. ...

...this world...... A 3 course dinner for two with a bottle of Chardonnay and a couple of bottles of mineral water was £70 but who cares I wasn't paying which made things better, but Smiths is well worth visiting for some amazing dishes and a lovely busy chatty atmosphere!! ...

Smiths of Smithfield has just opened up on Charterhouse Street in the middle of the meat market. Headed up by This Morning chef, John Torode, it offers all that is good about going out. Four floors of food and drink - the downstairs market cafe serves bacon butties and juices at 7am right and the bar rocks until closing with lots of comfy leather sofas to slob out on. The first floor cocktail bar offers a frightening array of mindblowing drinks, ... ...open at the end of July and promises to serve up all that is delicious and pleasing - with JT at the helm and a 30 ft south facing deck to sleep off the excess wine.
Smiths is fantastic - if you haven't been there yet - go now! ...

A great way to start a Sunday - beautifully cooked Full English Breakfast and pies made from organically grown produce. Also highly recommended are their fruity yoghurt-based shakes as well as their Bloody Marys for that post Saturday night hangover cure. Although you may end up waiting for 30 mins for a table, there are comfy leather sofas for lounging and the music is great for chilling out. Apparently, it is one of Jamie Oliver's favourite place ... ...to the place with its communal seating style is very appealing. But if you are not too feeling sociable, you can order a takeaway instead. The average price of a meal including a drink is about 10 quid. Overall, it is excellent value for money - good food served in decent portions and wonderful atmosphere. ...

I've now been to Smiths for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks and think its great. The location, near the City and in Clerkenwell means that its ideally situated to meet people in that part of London without being stuck ib a typical city bar.
Breakfast is really good value and straight-forward and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The restaurant's upstairs serves food on the hearty side, well executed and interesting. Service is quick and friendly ...
