    Disadvantages Disadvantages Rain.

Once again let me take you on a tour through another part of my homeland, the land of the Celts, Wales. This time I want you to see through my eyes the majestic mountains and gentle valleys, the mountain streams cascading into waterfalls, the spectacular passes with their rugged beauty, heather-clad rolling hills, towering forests and secluded villages all with their own particular charm. Hear through my ears this land of song, the gentle lilting voices that harmonise together with rising crescendo sending shivers down the spine. Put the cares of everyday living aside and stand in silence ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Daunting - challenging -

** Please note this is a review on the mountain – I’ve looked for this as a specific topic however it’s not available. If I suggest this to the site I feel they may just re-drect me to this and another Snowdon related topic ** My story ~~~~~~~~~ Climbing this was part of my 3 peak challenge. It was the last one we did, and despite us climbing to the very top, we couldn't see anything, all my photos are just of me and friends with a pure white background behind us, but trust me we got to the top. Location ~~~~~~~~~ Snowdon is the tallest mountain in Wales set in the area of Snowdonia, I had ... more

I was born in the West Midlands and lived there until 2002 when we all moved to Llandudno in North Wales. My husband, Dave, and I bought a large Victorian house and mom and dad came to live with us so that I could be their full time carer. We have now sadly lost both of them and Dave and I have moved to a small cottage on the Great Orme here in Llandudno as our old house was far too big for just two of us. The view from the front of our cottage is of the sea and the Snowdon Mountains beyond and it got me thinking that it was about time I wrote a review about this beautiful part of the world ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can Get Busy During The Summer Months

For my latest review I have decided to return to another area of the British Isles which has very fond childhood memories for me. This time it is the turn of Snowdonia. I have been to this area of North Wales on more occasions than I can remember, and each time that I visit even now the magic is still there. GENERAL INFORMATION The Snowdonia National Park Or Eryri as it is known in Welsh was designated a National Park in 1951 when it became the third National Park to be created in England and Wales. The Park covers a vast area of 838 square miles, which incorporates two different Mountain ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap, beautiful, active

Disadvantages Disadvantages It might be wet in May

Our recent (last year) holiday in the Snowdonia national park turned out to be one of the best we've ever had. The other half and I were both still students, stressed out before finals and in need of a budget getaway before plunging in to the depths of revision in May. After a little bit of research on the internet to look for campsites, we piled our gear into the back of our A reg VW and headed for the hills of Wales. The first campsite we stayed at, in Waunfawr, near Caernarfon, turned out to be brilliant once we located it. For £4 we could have as big a pitch as we liked (in May, campsites ... more

    Advantages Advantages Lots to do

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

The Snowdonia National Park has some of the most beautiful and breath-taking scenery in England and Wales. You can walk on the moors, sail on a mountain lake, explore the numerous copper mines and even cycle for miles on safe cycle routes. What's more you can enjoy the wildlife and beauty when doing it. The Snowdonia National Park Authority works with local landowners, to look after the area, but at the same time, they allow visitors to visit and enjoy this area of out-standing natural beauty, without spoiling the area. The National Park stretches 840 square miles, which includes sandy beaches ... more

Advantages Advantages Some of the best riding in the UK

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you're a die hard MTB nut, none

I've just come back from a week in Snowdonia with some friends and, as anyone who knows me would expect, my mountain bike. You see, right now North Wales is very much the in place to go for mountain biking, something to do with the fact that IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) have decided that Wales is on a par with the sport's birthplace of California in terms of places to go and have a bit of two wheeled fun. The main centre for all the fuss is Coed-y-Brenin, a forest about half way between Dolgellau and Porthmadog, which is where we decided to have our week of two wheeled ... more

    Advantages Advantages Beatiful scenery

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can get very cold

Snowdona national park in north wales is a beatiful area of wales. There are many mountains and hills to climb for experienced walkers, and lakes to walk around for the less experienced. If you can do it climbing to the peak of snowdon is magnificent you can see for miles arround with breathtaking views of the rest of the park. My favourite climb is the glidders the next range over towards england from snowdon its self. Starts off with a gentle walk arround a lake where you can leave the weak or faint hearted to walk back next is a medium climb up past the devils kitchen a favourite climb for ... more

Advantages Advantages Good for activity holidays

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be wet!!!

Snowdonia for a long time has been an area of awe-inspiring beauty, visited by thousands each year. For many years climbers have been drawn to the rock faces where although a lot of the rock climbs aren’t rated that difficult they are all very unprotected so that it makes them a lot more ‘interesting’. However there isn’t just walking and climbing in Snowdonia, you can also spend your time canoeing, although getting a lesson would probably be preferred if you are a beginner. I went to Snowdonia a couple of years ago and for the first time I tried my hand at white water rafting, this is a must ... more

We visited last October. the weather is not very good and we couldn't take the train to the peak due to the bad weather. So we drove around the park and had some fantastic view. It's really very different from England where no big hills could be found. Some kind like New Zeland. the trees were colorful as it was autumn. Breathtaking indeed. We stop on the road somwehere and had a walk along the hill. raining a little bit but not too bad. the veiw is fantastic but quite windy though. a friend told me that the best time to visit is May and June when it's not raining so much. Well, I think it's ... more
