I came across St Lawrence by accident many years ago and have been visiting year after year ever since.
The beachs here are wonderful. Especially around The Casuraina Hotel. Absolutely the clearest seas and the whitest sands. Gentle waves which are family friendly and being on the South west coast guarantees some spectacular sunsets.
In addition, you are also a short trip from both Crane Beach on the south coast (award winning) and the ... ...Gap" has many restaurants and bars to cater for every taste and price range - from cheap and cheerful Mexican to fine dining, there is absolutely no need to stay in accomodation offering more than B&B. More importantly - those looking for traditional local fayre will not be disappointed.
Most of the smaller hotels in the area are of a high standard and are within walking distance - almost all have access to glorious beaches. The area isn't noisy ...

St Lawrence Gap is a very lively part of Barbados, often referred to merely as "The Gap", with places like The Ship Inn (Thursday night), the Reggae Lounge (Sunday nights) and plenty of others to amuse you, offering either free admission or a cover charge but reduced priced drinks. St Lawrence Gap is not far from Rockley Beach for water sports, and of course, being on the coast, you can swim in the sea, which is warm all year round (usually a lot ... ...plethora of beggars and hawkers, St Lawrence Gap is ideal. A taxi to St Lawrence Gap from Bridgetown is usually around $BD40 and a similar price to the Grantley Adams International Airport. I recommend trying the Roti - like Fajitas, and washing everything down with bottles of Banks Beer, or trying the chicken from Wendy's Burger stand outside the Ship Inn. Advantages: Great Beaches, Freindly People, good buses, sunny, MY BEST HOLIDAY Disadvantages: Bag Snatchers on the beach at night you should not access the beach
...back to St Laurance Gap also but I am sure theres many other fantasic towns waiting to be visited.
Theres also buses which we used on a regular basis to hop from one town / beach to the next, very freindly reliable buses much more then in the UK.... ...

...but as you move towards St Laurence the beaches become sandy with some waves . The island is full of heritage and I advise taking a tour of the island which lasts about 4 hours.I recomend the island to anyone looking for a break from the dreary weather in England. ...
