Advantages: Quiet and tranquil, breathtaking scenery, not too commercialised. Disadvantages: none
...Both Calella and Tamariu, along with Llafranc are three fishing villages situated around one main town- Palafrugell and from Palafrugell it takes a 15 minute bus journey to get any of the three. Calella
I myself first got to visit this area of spain when I was 3 years old and we visited Calella. It was an amazing place and I was lucky enough to stay there four more times before my parents decided that it had become too over run with tourists. Back ... ...and a few cafes, restaurants and hotels. The main tourists who visited were Spaniards and French. My family liked being able to go on holiday without seeing other British people everywhere as it meant we would get to chat to people from other countries and learn a little about different cultures. Nowadays it is still a lovely little town although there are many more Bristish tourists than there were then, and unfortunatly it has become very built ...

Advantages: Not too crowded, good accommodation, good weather, Spanish culture Disadvantages: Barcelona's traffic, lack of genuine sandy beaches

Advantages: Not overly touristy, good value, quite easily accessible, very relaxing Disadvantages: A little far away from the big cities

The town has a local population of approximately 90 people all of whom I assume are employed in the tourism industry. The village is located right on the sea in what many travel books correctly describe as the clearest waters on the Mediterranean.
The small beach front is lined with about 8-10 ... ...Expect to pay about 25 euros for dinner including 2 courses and a drink. None of the restaurants are '5 star' but they are perfect for this relaxing destination.
During the week in the shoulder season when we traveled (Early June) the beach is mostly quiet and the few people that are there are English speaking. This changes significantly on weekends when locals flock to the beach for some topless sunbathing. Don't worry if you don't speak too much ...
