Advantages: Educational but fun. Learn about science, Hands-on. Disadvantages: Very few
...a negative attitude towards science, Techniquest is a revelation. It teaches visitors, through its hands-on, experiential learning approach, that science can be great fun.
From humble beginnings in an old gas showroom in the center of Cardiff - the Welsh capital - the successful application of an idea of Professor John Bettlestone and a small team of professionals has resulted in Cardiff having a fascinating science discovery centre.. Opened in ... ...geodesic dome and now Techniquest attracts more than 200,000 visitors a year.
The building has well over 160 interactive exhibits, a planetarium, discovery room, restaurant, shop, offices and an auditorium modeled on the Royal Institution's own, with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, demonstration models and seating for children and teachers. Here science becomes fun as well as educational! Whatever your age, you will be thrilled by the puzzles ...

I visited Techniquest in March 2002 with my husband and our four year old daughter. My uncle had recently visited and recommended that we went to see the fantastic brain teasing equipment that was on trial there. He visited with his 7 year old daughter and though that Hana would be too young - how wrong she loved it.
It cost around £12 for the 3 of us to be in the building for the day (if you want). You probably would find it very difficult to amuse ... ...hygiene and janitorial items.
Techniquest was easy to find, in the Cardiff Bay area on foot it was well signposted, we didn;t take the car to the area but found a number of signs which were brown in colour to direct traffic. A large multistorey carpark was situated across the road but do not know if it was Free or chargeable.
Very well worth the visit if in the area, I would recommend that children over the age of 3 up to any age would find something ...

Advantages: Educationally fun with a large dose of hands on exhibits. Disadvantages: The restaurant is titchy.
Housed in a now thoroughly modern building complete with a giant silver geodesic dome it is one of Cardiff’s little treasures if your of technological bent. There are displays to tax your mind (but not too much), displays ... ...Stargazing catered for in that geodesic dome of a planetarium. It’s spacious inside but yet jam-packed with loads of displays. If you get tired of ‘playing’ with the exhibits, there’s always the view of Cardiff Bay itself which you can’t fail to miss as one side of the building is just a wall of glass which just coincidentally looks out over the Bay. A fun day out for sure but beware, it is only suitable for kids aged between 6 and 101. ...
