...back from a week in Tenerife and I thought I'd share my experiences with you and give you a bit of information incase you ever fancy a visit. ~*~TENERIFE IN GENERAL ~*~

Now Tenerife may not be the most glamourous of destinations, depending on who you talk to you may hear it described as little more than 'Blackpool with sun' but people who say that are usually mono-syllabic morons who've probably never ventured further afield than the George and Dragon 'English' pub in their pre-chosen, package deal resort. There is, however, a lot more to Tenerife than that and I, for one, really like it.
The thing ... ...kingdom and effectively it divides Tenerife in half giving seperate and distinct landscapes and climates to each half. The north side of the island bears the brunt of the prevailing Atlantic winds so it's generally wetter, greener and breezier than the south which, thanks to being shielded by Teide, is distinctly hotter, drier and more desert-like. There are several different resorts on the island offering different benefits and characteristics but ...

Tenerife is one of the Canary Islands and is situated in the Mediteranean Sea. And is somewhere south of Spain on the way to Africa. Las Americas is in the South - South West of Tererife and is a short drive from Tenerife South Airport. Playa De Las Americas neighbours Los Christianos and has a great view of Mount Teide. ...the chance to go to Tenerife for a two week holiday, sounds good so far eh? Well, having already been to the island a few years ago on a lads holiday and remembering nothing but clubs, late nights, drinking and basically a week of excess I was filled with doubts as to what the island would have to offer a twenty-something couple who don't want the whole clubbing and partying holiday anymore. Tenerife is a nice enough place with some dramatic scenery, from the volcanic, erm, volcanoes to the long, winding beaches, with golden sand imported from the Sahara desert. There’s lots to see and do and buy and eat whatever your tastes. Tenerife is not the sort of place I would usually think of to go on holiday, but we decided to go away at the last minute, and got a fantastic deal on an all inclusive holiday. As Tenerife is a duty free island, there are literally hundreds of electrical shops. There was even one in my hotel! These shops, on the whole are out to rip off tourists. An example of these shops is when I went to buy a Game Boy Advance.
