The first time we visited the Albert Dock at Liverpool was when I won a competition in one of our local newspapers for a family ticket to the Beatles Story Exhibition, plus free train travel to and from Liverpool. As we walked through Liverpool from the train station we already realised what a wonderful city Liverpool seemed to be, with a great shopping centre and very friendly local people. When we arrived at the Albert Dock we were very pleasantly ... ...attraction at the Dock, but in fact it is only one of many interesting and varied places to see and visit around the Dock. Of course the River Mersey dominates the whole area and I did not realise just how wide this river was and to sit on the banks of the river watching the boats go by is very relaxing on a sunny afternoon. When we were last there HMS Invincible was anchored in the river on a courtesy visit and this was very spectacular to see. ...

Advantages: A lot to do and see. Disadvantages: Can get crowded
The Albert Dock is the major visitor attraction in Liverpool and is an amazing reincarnation for it was a decaying dock area not so many years ago. Today its roaring success is because there is a lot to do and see at this attraction.As the whole world knows the most famous pop group ever were Liverpool born and bred and the Beatles Story Exhibition pulls in a lot of visitors. Liverpool.at one time,was the world's greatest port and the base for migrants ... ...this is well told in the Mersey Maritime Museum. For culture buffs there is the Tate Gallery North to visit and the Customs and Excise Museum attracts a large number of people.
The place has an excellent range of cafes,bars,pubs and restaurants and if you fancy a shopping binge you have a lot of choice with the likes of book shops,arts and crafts stores, fashion shops, jewellers and,should need to make travel arrangements,there are travel agents ...

The Albert Dock in Liverpool is the main tourist area of the once thriving Liverpool dock lands. Located within a 5-minute walk from the city centre it is easy to get to. The Albert Dock is home to the old Granada studios where good morning was filmed as well as the world famous Fred's weather map located in the dock. You will find the Tate art galley, which is free to enter and is full of historic and modern art and is a pleasure to visit. The beetle's ... ...most famous band. Finally the other museum is Liverpool Maritime museum which is an informative history of the Liverpool Docks including Liverpool's involvement in the slave trade.
Shopping is good for arts and crafts, as well as memorabilia. There are countless small shops situated around the dock, which you can pick up some good bargains.

...while you are in Liverpool, the it must be The Albert Dock. It is in essence the main attraction of the city and it is a good place to start if you are looking for a bit of history. The Albert Dock is a converted warehouse which was presumably bustling with activity in Liverpool's hey day as a port and centre of trade. It currently houses three world class attractions, namely, The Merseyside Maritime Museum, The Tate Gallery of the North and The ... ...past through its dioramas depicting the passage of slaves and later, immigrants to America. It gives the onlooker an idea of how Liverpool came to be what it is today, an ethnicaly diverse society. Aside from museums and galleries, there are also plenty of shops to lure the souvenir hunter. Advantages: Easy parking, relaxed atmosphere Disadvantages: not really the best place to look for a bargin
The Albert Dock is a welcome relief for shoppers. Parking is free and plentiful and the shops are far less crowded than the rest of Liverpool City centre. There are some lovely places to stop for a spot of lunch - for a more traditional slant there is the Pump House Pub and for those who like something with a more modern feel there is always the roomy, relaxing, Blues bar - perfect for chilling out after a hard afternoon shopping. The shops are generally ... ...these shops are not the run-of-the-mill chain store variety, so the products are likely to be unique. Wherever you go in the Albert Dock you can enjoy the sea are and beautiful view of the harbour. The are also pleasure rides provided for anybody who wants to see the harbour at a more intimate level. All in all, the Albert Dock has something for everybody and is a welcome change for anyone who has had enough of battling their way through shopping ...

Advantages: A great day out Disadvantages: Erm...you'll spend money?
...then make sure you take the time to visit the Albert Docks. They were transformed from dilapidated ruins in the mid-to-late Eighties and are now one of the best parts of the city. They have good and interesting shops there, Fred's weather-map and This Morning used to be filmed there, but I'm not sure if it still is. There are some great bars and restaurants and there is a Maritime museum - which is well-worth seeing - and a Beatles exhibition ... ...have retained a lot of the old features (like huge anchors and the original warehouse frontage) and it gives an idea of the old majesty of Liverpool at the city's peak. It's a pleasant walk from the City-centre or there is loads of parking space there. Follow the signs from the M62 or wander towrds the sea from Liverpool . ...

...is another great city of the North and is often forgotten. It sometimes has a bad reputation for crime and to some extent I am sure this is true. The people of very friendly and there are plenty of things to do in Liverpool.
