Amazing venue
Review of The Astoria (London) by
cherub3001
Advantages: great sound, venue, atmosphere!
Disadvantages: quite dark!
I have been to the Astoria quite a few times now and so far i have managed to see Less Than Jake, Vanilla Pod, Frenzal Rhomb, Goldfinger and King Prawn there. Each and every gig was amazing, each gig being better than the one before it!
This is not only due to the extremely talented bands, but a lot of the credit has to go to the actual venue itself. Although rather small compared to venues such as Wembley stadium, it actually out-does these larger ...

Of the Stars
Review of The Astoria (London) by
bergmcberg
Advantages: Its a really good venue...
Disadvantages: ... its only as good as the act playing
The Astoria has been a feature of my life for donkeys years now. Yes - I am an old git, but first went there when I was about 15 (Dont tell my mum!) It was where i went when I used to watch rock bands. I saw Soundgarden play there, Radiohead, Foo Fighters,Therapy, The Wonderstuff, Leatherface, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana and plenty of others too. Such funky, drunken times were had that I cant remember a hell of a lot about where i was or what i was doing. ...

Excellent Venue
Review of The Astoria (London) by
thisnamesux
Advantages: Small, loud
Disadvantages: Dark
...(music)
The Astoria has to be the best venue for that kind of music I have ever been to.
Beating Wemberley Arena in terms of viewing (the astoria is small, so you see much)
The security there are very good, helpful and happy to help if you get lost, stuck or injured.
The mosh - pits they have there have always been quite fun, and i've never really got injured there.
They allow crowd surfing which is a bonus.
I've seen many bands there, not once ...

Good venue
Review of The Astoria (London) by
Joolz
Advantages: Friendly and interesting
Disadvantages: Leans towards the "cheesy" side at times
The Astoria has got quite a reputation, so when you get there it's comforting to find out that the place is a friendly and relaxed venue. I did find the crowd to be a very young studenty type, but maybe that's just me getting old! But if you do go, then expect lots of glitter wigs and alcopops. The place itself is large enough to be interesting and varied and small enough to locate your lost friends without spending the whole evening looking for them! ...

What a great venue
Review of The Astoria (London) by
deanmoncaster
Advantages: Music, Alcohol.
Disadvantages: Price, location, bouncers
Charing Cross Road
Another old theatre, the second largest non-stadium venue in London. Lots of standing room, an enormous stage and many seats
on the balcony. The only problem is the bouncers. These are the worst in London and the most likely to start a fight, the access is
crap and you have to fight your way to get out, this is not helped by the attitude of the bouncers. Soon they will have to registered
though and those with criminal records ...

If you're not gay, stop reading this now....
Review of The Astoria (London) by
Dara
Advantages: Huge club so there's room to breath
Disadvantages: Don't lose sight of your friends
The largest Gay club in Europe deserves that title. The Astoria is huge and is divided into two distinct areas - LA1 and LA2, LA standing for London Astoria.
My perspective is strictly gay and well educated. GAY runs four nights a week - Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Monday and Thursday night are held in LA2 where the music is heavy dance/techno downstairs and camp as they come upstairs. The crowd is friendly and cruisey.
Friday night ...

The best QUEER night out!
Review of The Astoria (London) by
abarham
Advantages: FUN FUN FUN
Disadvantages: Can get quite packed
I have visited the Astoria on many occassions when it takes on the name of G.A.Y - the best gay night out around. If you are queer, camp and love to dance to some cheesy pop music - then this is the place for you!!. It is great if you want to have a good time and a great dance. You can also see some great acts there, I have seen Geri Halliwell, Kylie Minogue, Westlife, Ronan Keeting, Scooch, Lolly, Steps and loads loads more. - It is farely priced ...

Great venue.
Review of The Astoria (London) by
Metdude
Advantages: Great view.
Disadvantages: Quite dark.
The Astoria is one of the best venues in London for metal gigs. I've seen Slayer, Anthrax, Nuclear Assault and Testament here. The first two were headlining shows while the last two were part of this year's No Mercy Fest. It's a mostly standing venue although some seats can be found in the upper balconies. Maximum capacity is about 1600. The venue can be become over crowded on sold out nights. You get a good view wherever you go. I usually go upstairs ...
