The Days Inn Birmingham was the last resort, I had one of my bored days at work and decided yet again at the last minute that me and hubbie should hit the city. I tried the hotels in Manchester, some in Nottingham, then the last resort Birmingham. I rang a few of them and all were booked up, so when I rang Days Inn I was expecting them to say "sorry we are booked too". That wasn't the case , the girl at the other ... ...debit card number to secure the booking and I told her we would be there by 8pm that Saturday night.
The Days Inn is located in The Mailbox shopping centre. As we pulled up we noticed it was all lit up bright red, we had seen this building in December and always wondered what it was. We had to park our car in the multi storey car park which is located in the shopping complex. You then have to go up in a lift to the Days Inn, but it wasn't as easy ...

Advantages: Cheap and cheerful, clean and tidy Disadvantages: very basic, no frills, but at that price who wants them?
...We live out in the country so going out into the big wide world can be quite scary you know what with all the guncrime and murder in the big cities!!! We were a bit wary of staying in the centre of Birmingham mainly due to cost, so we looked for somewhere on the edge and found Days Inn in West Bromwich, Birmingham. It is just off junction 1 of the M5 which was great and easy to find. We then took a taxi into Birmingham later on. This cost £12 each ... ...which made us feel that the car was secure (no need to take the wheels in with us)!. The hotel is based on several floors of a large 10 storey building, with reception on the ground floor.
Our swipe card would not open the room door and they happily exchanged it for another one.
The room itself was a double, with huge double-glazed windows looking out over the city. There was the usual facilities of television, kettle and of course the Bible.

...it sounded like ages in the future, I said fine, I would love to go and promptly forgot about it. So, last weekend when I got an e-mail reminding me that we were leaving at 10am on Saturday morning to maximise drinking time my first thoughts were urghh... Birmingham why? And, I wonder where we are staying? Well, she knew better than I did as she had been to Birmingham a few months before and stayed at the Days Inn and thought it would make a great ... ...This Hotel is in The Mailbox complex, right in the centre of Birmingham. This is where the Birmingham branch of Harvey Nichols is situated and a whole host of other trendy shops not to mention the wine and cafe bars and right alongside possibly the cleanest, safest, most secure feeling multi story car park I have ever used ( £10 for the night).
The Hotel is 5 minutes drive from the motor way network a 15-minute walk from Digbeth Coach Station, 10 ...

Advantages: Very nice hotel, in an excellent location Disadvantages: not many for a hotel
The Days Inn is a hotel that, from the outside looks small, but trust me, looks are decieving. Facilities:
the usual for a hotel. En suite rooms, brekky available, bar, meeting rooms and an underground carpark. the rooms themselves, have an awesome power shower, and the usual trimmings, tea/coffee etc. you can get smoking as well as non smoking, and rooms are large and very comfy
Location:
The hotel is situated in the Mailbox, which if youve been, ... ...Birmingham. easy to reach from the motorway (M5 or M6), and even easier to get to if you come via train to the Birmingham New street train station. the coach station is close by too (Digbeth), literally walking distance, and hey, even the airport isnt too far (about 10-15 miles)
the location is absolutely excellent. lively place in the mailbox, with the canals, and broad street close by, which is where all the good nightclubs and bars (and more) ...
