You'll Not Be Blue at This Lagoon Review with images

AdvantagesA unique experience; shallow so fine for non-swimmers

DisadvantagesExpensive but worth it; shallow for swimmers; gets busy

"The Blue Lagoon is one of Icelandís most popular tourist attractions Itís a manmade outdoor bathing pool (I hesitate to call it a swimming pool because even at its deepest itís still fairly shallow) and spa which uses the water from the nearby geothermal power plant at Svartsengi. Visiting the Blue Lagoon was top of my list of things I wanted to do in Iceland and there was no way I was going to travel to almost the top of the world and not go there. ..." Read review

Blue Heaven Review with images

AdvantagesRelaxing, Refreshing. A unique experience.

DisadvantagesIncomplete information leaflets.

"Swimming in the hot almost-fluorescent aquamarine waters of the Blue Lagoon surrounded by black basalt lava rocks in icy temperatures of minus six degrees pelted with sporadic bursts of freezing rain is a unique experience and one I will remember for some time. The Blue Lagoon is a pool of geothermal sea water created by an unexpected consequence to the massive Svartsengi power plant. The power plant was built in the late 70s, and together with ..." Blue Lagoon Iceland

AdvantagesRelaxing and breath taking

"The Blue Lagoon in Iceland is an experience that cannot really be described without being there first hand, but I will try no less to tell you about this lovely place. Location / Getting There ------------------------------ The Lagoon is based in the middle of nowhere in Iceland; it is about a 35-40 minute drive from Reykjavik via road, and is a short detour past Keflavik airport. The only way to the Lagoon is via road as I stated, there ..." Read review

Bathe in the blue lagoon Review with images

AdvantagesEfficiently run and state-of-the-art

DisadvantagesExpensive, subject to the weather

"...I made a visit to the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is probably one of Iceland's most famous attractions. It is a geothermally heated outdoor pool in which you can bathe, the average temperature of the water being 37-39 degrees Celsius (98-102 Farenheit). Heated water near a lava flow is taken from the ground, used to run turbines that generate electricity in a nearby geothermal power plant, and is then fed into the lagoon. I booked my trip before ..." Read review

Go on...be a creature!

AdvantagesVery Relaxing

DisadvantagesA little expensive, but completely worth it.

"The Blue Lagoon in Iceland is a definite must you need to experience whilst in Iceland. Iceland is actually located on the boundaries of two large tectonic plates, these being the Eurasian plate and the North American plate. Iceland is very volcanic and there are many geysers and hot springs throughout the country. The Mid Atlantic Ridge actually runs from the East coast of Iceland through Reykajik to the centre of Iceland. The reason I am ..." Read review

The Lue Lagoon & Geysir

AdvantagesSpectacular scenery, good for the skin

DisadvantagesCan be a bit cold

"...how I can sum up the Blue Lagoon. It is a short trip from Rekyavik, and an even shorter one from the international airport at Keflavik. The blue Lagoon is an artificial lake created to take the outflow from a geothermal power station. It is heavy with minerals and is consequently bright blue. There is a smell of sulphar in the air but the feeling of floating in a warm bath, with a black volcanic vista all around makes it worth the smell. After ..." Read review

Stay at the Blue Lagoon

Advantages the clinic - great for skin complaints

Disadvantages quite a trek in the cold!

"The Blue Lagoon ( the famous geothermal spa) has a clinic attached which treats people with psoriarsis; however guests may also stay there. Silica has been proven to reduce skin complaints, hence the reason for the clinic. It is a small, chic guesthouse with private spa pools located next to the Blue Lagoon - it is 15km from the airport, so not in Reykjavik, and people usually stop there on the way back to the airport so transportation there from ..." Blue Lagoon Natural Spa

AdvantagesSpectacular sceenary, gives you yummy skin!

DisadvantagesCost of getting to Iceland

"...me. When I arrived at the Blue Lagoon I have to admit that I WAS IMPRESSED! BLUE LAGOON is a Geothermal Spa and one of Iceland's most unique and popular attraction. There is so much to chose from (constrained obviously by the amount of things one could do at a spa) the main attraction is bathing and relaxing in BLUE LAGOON geothermal seawater, known for its positive effects on the skin. A day at a spa soaked away all my aches and pains. It is beautiful. ..." Read review
