The mystery of the sinister steps

Advantages: No football colours. Mixed crowd. Cafferys.
Disadvantages: A bit small. Can be crowded. Sinister Steps. TV.

The frost was thick on the ground, I was wandering down an absolutely freezing York Place at about dinner time and I was thinking. Wait around in the cold for a crowded bus, risk getting to my friends’ home too soon and hang around there as well and risk freezing? I tried to distract myself with other thoughts. What shall I try and tempt the readers at Ciao with next? The better distraction came in the form of the cosy looking pub on the corner ...

I guess he wasn’t a sports fan, either that or the location of the pub – not very far away from where Hibs play and not that far away from Hearts play - has led to off the field confrontations before. Advantages: Good atmosphere, comfy seating, not too pricy
Disadvantages: Limited range of drinks

The central location and welcoming facade mean that it is popular with tourists in the evening and shoppers during the day, many of whom are tempted by the decent food. Don't be put off, though, many locals go there also. The rough theme of the pub is a Sherlock Holmes style reading ...
...too sick of it! The beer is fine, if not massive in choice, and the range of soft drinks and spirits is perfectly acceptable, as are the prices. The average clientele is definitely late twenties upwards, and the pub, though very lively, is never too rowdy. One thing to bear in mind, it does have massive TV projector screens which are unfurled for football matches so, unless you are a footie fan, time your visit wisely! ...
