Advantages Advantages Great day out, peaceful

Disadvantages Disadvantages None what so ever

Generally over the Easter holidays, my part of the country gets slightly overcrowded, so I really don't venture far. One place I always like to visit though is here, as it is only a 40 minute drive away. Fantastic views over the sea, nice walks, good restaurant, and Donkeys, what more could you ask. *** Where is it? *** I really like to visit the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, situated on the South Devon coast, between Seaton and Sidmouth. The Donkey Sanctuary is open 365 days a year, from 09:00 till dusk. *** Why is it there? *** To care for Donkeys - the Donkey Sanctuary, rescues Donkeys, some ... more

Advantages Advantages free, good parking, disabled access, refreshments, free video screening re donkey sanc, lovely location, lovely donkeys!

Disadvantages Disadvantages none that pop to mind, maybe limited transport if no car

I have to say that this place is one of the best. I have visited it so many times over the years can't actually recall how many times I've been and I don't even live near the area!!!! So this is the home for abused and unwanted donkeys. it has been very interesting over the years to see how this has developed and it just gets better and better. Donkeys tend to have that sad put up on look anyway but when you watch the free video about the donks, read the information on the fences about them and talk to staff you can't help feeling that they have that look for a good reason. When you hear what ... more

Advantages Advantages Free, beautiful, plenty of donkeys

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I really can't believe I stumbled across this place to review! First of all, I'll start with I LOVE DONKEYS!! Recently I turned 18, so my friends thought the adoption of a donkey would be an ideal present...teenager's eh! So online they accessed the website and filled in the necessary forms for the adoption. Through the post I received an envelope which I couldn't open until my birthday. When the big day arrived, I was amazed to find out that I had adopted the donkey Tapestry at the centre in Sidmouth. Within the envelope were details how to get to the particular site, a drawing of my adoption ... more

Advantages Advantages Quiet & Peaceful Donkey Safe Haven

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor Staff Attitude at Hayloft Restaurant

When I walk round the farms at the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary the first impression is of a generally well run charity that cares for donkeys both in this country and overseas. However from my own experiences the Hayloft Restaurant really lets the Donkey Sanctuary down. I used to visit the restaurant on a daily basis but as low season progressed with less customers Hayloft staff seemed to want to leave early. I was told off by the Hayloft chef for ordering food five minutes before the food cut off point . During visits in November many of the Hayloft restaurant lights were deliberately turned ... more
