The Empire is a large(ish) bar in the basement, and a 500 capacity live music venue upstairs, and was built in a converted church.

Advantages: Comfy, good atmosphere Disadvantages: Can get very packed
I first experienced The Empire just last week when I went to see the wonderful Ken Haddock and his band play. I must say I was very impressed. I found The Empire to be a very homely bar which is just the right size and has a good atmosphere. The comedy nights that are held there every Tuesday night are also top class and very good value for money.
