5 Stars THOMAS COOK EXPLORERS HOTEL - STUNNING Review with images 05/07/2010

Advantages Advantages STUNNING HOTEL AND SURROUNDINGS, STAFF, FOOD, ROOMS

    Disadvantages Disadvantages NONE

The Thomas Cook Explorers Hotel is rated 3 stars. It is a situated just a few minutes drive from Disneyland Resort in Paris. I visited this hotel in March 2009 as part of my college study visit. We stayed for 3nights midweek. We travelled from our college in Scotland by coach to Hull and went on the overnight crossing to Zeebrugge. We then travelled by coach down to Paris and to the hotel. The hotel is approx 1hour from the centre of Paris and is the furthest hotel from the Disney park in the area. Checking In I was part of a group of 25 students and 3 tutors so check in was handled by the ... more

Advantages Advantages Close to the park, has adjoining rooms for families

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the quietest for my particular room

On visiting Disneyland Paris is January 2008, I researched hotel and travel options extensively in order to make sure I got my term-time holiday (the kids being preschoolers) at the best possible rate. Reading up on www.disboards.com and trip advisor this hotel kept coming up as being good value and also being the only one I could find to have a family room with and adjoining children's bedroom as opposed to curtained bunk beds. For this reason I decided to book it, at the time it was a reasonable £70 per night for a "crew room" which had a double bed, two twin and bunk beds in an adjoining ... more

Advantages Advantages Price, Family rooms, family friendly, free shuttle to disney parks.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No complaints.

We stayed at the explores hotel for a weekend, there were 5 of us, 2 children and 3 adults. We booked this hotel through the eurostar website and found the price compared to Disney hotels very cheap (approximately £250 for 5 people for 2 nights bed and breakfast), we were also attracted to this hotel because it seemed very family orientated and offered larger rooms. The hotel is situated approximately 1 mile from the disneyland resort paris. We drove ourselves and found the hotel with no problems, as we got closer to disneyland the hotel was signposted, the hotel offered a large free carpark ... more

Advantages Advantages Swimming pool, complimentary breakfast, fun pirate decor, free bus.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very busy at breakfast and on bus.

My partner and I stayed at the Thomas Cook Explorers hotel for two nights at the beginning of this month. I won a trip to Disneyland Paris in a competition held by Thomas Cook so in this review I regret I am unable to comment on prices, however I intend to give my opinion of all aspects of our stay at the hotel. Upon arriving at Marne la Vallee station on the Eurostar, we found several bus stops outside for the various hotels surrounding Disney. We spent a good 10 minutes trying to locate the right bus stop for the free shuttle bus to the Explorers hotel, but the station staff were very ... more

Advantages Advantages Close to Disney, price against 'official' hotels

Disadvantages Disadvantages Breakfast, no tickets included

Disneyland Paris is a small community of theme parks, hotels, restaurants and shops. On site there are 6 'official' Disney hotels. These are great value for money if you plan on heading to the theme parks every day you are there - you receive a Disney ticket for each day of your stay. In addition to these Disney hotels, there are four 'non-Disney' hotels a 5 minute bus ride away from the parks. The Explorers Hotel is one of these (the other include the Movenpick Dream Castle and the Kyriad). We opted for this hotel over a Disney one because we weren't going to the parks each day (we also ... more

Advantages Advantages Family orientated hotel at a good price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lively hotel atmosphere if you want a quieter holiday

The Explorers Hotel is located on the Disneyland Paris site and is one of three hotels constructed about 1km from the Disney owned hotels. It contains 390 rooms accommodating up to 6 persons and there is a free shuttle bus service to and from the Disneyland Theme Park Gates, which are about 3km away. The Explorers has a "pirates" style theme with a large indoor pool that has two slides, a play area built in the shape of a sailing ship, a children's play area that’s ideal for under six year olds with lots of swing ropes, climbing walls and netted softballs to jump into. The Hotel offers 3 ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap, friendly, clean, child-friendly

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

A truly excellent base from which to explore Disneyland! We went for 8 days with our children (5 and 3). The hotel staff were polite and friendly and aareas of the hotel were clean and air conditioned (great during a very hot week in August!) The real appeal of this hotel, however is the child-friendliness of it all. The soft play area is located next to the breakfast area, which meant that our children could go and play in safely whilst we loaded up on caffeine ready for a day exploring the parks. The pool was excellent and provided an ideal opportunity to escape "Disney-itus" for a while ... more

Advantages Advantages close to the action great for familys

The explorers hotel disneyland resort paris was exceptional. We booked our mini break from expedia and for a family of four during the febuary half term for the hotel and eurostar to marne le vaille cost £501 (hopper tickets purchased seperatly quite cheaply from ebay). We arrived at marne le valle at 11am and travelled on the free shuttle bus to the hotel which took no more than 5 minutes. On arriving the hotel we entered into the foyer/ lobby and was amazed how grand and clean it looked we couldnt check in but we could leave our luggage. The staff were more than helpfull again we jumped on ... more

Advantages Advantages Very friendly, clean, great location, pool & play areas for kids

Disadvantages Disadvantages None that we could think of!

Having previously stayed at one of the Disney Paris hotels, the Cheyenne, and been rather underwhelmed with the level of service and general condition of the place, plus spent a very wet camping holiday at a Yelloh Village site within an hour's drive of DP, we decided to have a look at one of the partner hotels for a one-night break at Feb half term. We chose the Explorers Hotel because of the pool - of course, the majority of our time was spent at DP, but it was so nice for my daughter & her friend (aged 7 & 8) to be able to come back after a day in the cold, warm up with a hot drink and then ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages food not good

After a hectic day in the Disney parks I was glad to be staying at a hotel some distance from the parks yet with good transport (also free) links. Our family room was adequate for our needs with bunk beds and a double bed. Plus the basic services as expected. The nautical themed room was an attractive point for the kids who played at being pirates. Facilities were fairly good for the kids including the pool, soft play area and mini gym. The hote shop stocked all the necessary Disney souvenirs so we were able to do our shopping at our leisure. Being at a distance from the parks was not a ... more
