Advantages: Cheap Beer, location. Disadvantages: Lack of seating
OK, this is the second in a series of my favourite pubs in York. The Hansom Cab is one of the favourites because its a bit different. The Cab is located in York City Centre. If you are on Parliament Street, aim for the Disney Store (near HSBC and the fountain). If you head west from the Disney Store, towards Coney Street, the Hansom Cab is on your left. Its a pretty small opening, so look carefully. By the way, if you reach Coffee Republic you came ... ...enough direction.
The primary benefit of the Cab is the beer. For bitter drinkers, like me, you can get a pint of the local bitter, Sam Smith's. For £1.30. Thats as cheap as it gets in York. Its a bit rough, but excellent for the money. But thats not it. If anyone reading this has been to Austria, you may have tried Weissbier - its a white wheat beer.
