...a man made resort on the red sea coast and is basically just one straight road in the desert, running parrallel with the coast, with the airport in the middle and then many hotels either side of it. The hotels themselves are more like mini resorts than just hotels, and are either on the sea side of the road with sea frontage or the desert side with none but access to a beach over the road. The airport is quite well organised and your hotel will only be about 20 minutes from the airport at the most on the main road which is actually very good as it is quite new. All the drivers are completely mad though so be warned you will be in for a frightening journey, they seem to enjoy driving at high speed and about two inches off the bumper of the car in front. Advantages: Cheap and lovely atmosphere Disadvantages: Too much entertainment
...Europe would be out of the question (the euro!) and we wanted to go somewhere popular so that we knew we wouldn’t be wasting our money. We finally decided Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt as we’d never been there before, it would be nice and hot in May and we could afford it. I’ve never been all inclusive but I knew that I wouldn’t be taking a lot of spending money and therefore all inclusive was the only option, and so we booked 11 nights in the Hauza Beach ... ...ten minute phone call to the holiday operator who we was put in touch with via teletext holidays. The lady on the phone recommended the Hauza as she said it was the cheapest of the 5 star hotels available for when we wanted. We booked the break in May as there would be no school holidays and therefore I knew that the hotel would not be packed full of children.
