...my husbands parents. Unfortunately the Hotel we stayed at left a lot to be desired (see A Weekend at Fawlty Towers!) but we happened to find The Hole in the Wall on our first night there.
The Hole in the Wall is the oldest pub in Torquay, established in about 15??. We came upon it by accident after strolling around Torquay. It was up a tiny side street almost in the main town centre. It looked quaint from outside so as we were looking for a place ... ...Immediately when approaching the bar we were greeted by a member of staff who said," Evening folks, be with you in a minute". This amazed us as the bar was extremely busy and we couldn't believe he'd even seen us walk in. We were then served by another member of staff who was equally as pleasant. We asked if she knew how busy the restaurant was, she replied that she would go and check for us. On returning she told us that there were tables available ...
