The Level is near St Peter's Church and provides one of the few places you can kick a ball about in central brighton. It is quite a large space at about 500 metres by 500 metres and has a criss cross of cycle lanes and paths going through it. It has grassy areas for sun bathing and playing frisbee in and even has a skate park/recreational area for the kids to play in. There is an amount of trees you can sit under during sunny ... ...that they were destroyed by the great storm of 1987. During the summer, usually in June/July a fair plonks itself down on the level and many other festivals and events have been at the Level, such as Brighton Pride before it out grew the venue. It is a place where many people go to practice various outdoors activities such as Capoera the Brazillian martial art, football, frisbee, running and even bongo playing.
