...As with most London productions, the 2nd Act is hotter than the 1st, but all-in-all, I loved it. The costumes and acting were out of this world, and one of the new songs, Shadowlands, is truly amazing. The singer, Nala, (Paulette Ivory), sings it with such brilliant conviction. The theatre is large, yet we managed to be sitting next to the family from hell! They nattered constantly. I'm not going to tell you too much more, but try to get seats in ... ...the show. I would recommend rows L-P. We were in W, which was a little too far back, as we were underneath the dress circle, and although we had a perfect view, I still felt a little too enclosed. The downside? £35 + bkg fee for the best seats. ...

Advantages: Amazing costumes and choreography Disadvantages: So loud there was feedback through the speakers
I loved the show except for one thing- the volume through the amplifiers was up way too loud- when the female lead sang solo and went up high, there was loud buzzing- "feedback"- through the speakers, this shows how loud it was! At times I had to cover my ears but they were still ringing when I left. This is unnecessary- the Lyceum isn't a huge theatre and these are professional actors and singers, so why have it all at full blast?
Visually the ... ...your mind for days, especially the stampede scene (WOW!). I had wanted to see this for years, ever since they showed a few clips on TV of the opening scene. I was fascinated by the costumes and puppetry. I am glad I finally got to see it, and hope to go again and take some family with me- but I shall certainly warn them about the volume! I saw it just last night and today I still have a throbbing headache!!!! ...

Advantages: great show, suitable for all ages Disadvantages: none
...that I really enjoyed at the cinema when I was younger.
I managed to persuade my boyfriend that he too wanted to see it. The only reasonably priced tickets we could get hold of were for a matinee - which we were a bit concerned about due to it being a 'kids' show. However this wasn't an issue and there were plenty of free seats available and had we wanted to we could have moved.
The Lyceum theatre is a nice theatre in a lovely area of London, not ... ...me from the start with all the animals coming out. I orignally imagined lots of very sweaty people wearing animal costumes like you might see in a pantomime but not to be the animals were all cleverly designed. The songs were uplifting but not as much as I thought and clearly had you singing along in your head.
The cast were all excellent especially the children, although one was a bit quiet at times although I think this was more down to his microphone.
