The grand-ish Strand

Advantageslocation, location, location!

DisadvantagesWork in progress

"...had might as well make the most of our adventure and booked a show and stay theatre trip. After reading up on the choice of hotels, we opted for the 3 star Strand Palace as it a) looked pretty swanky from the photo, b) was only 5 minutes from the Adelphi where Joseph was playing c) was cheaper than some of the others AND included breakfast! Bargain. Our cab driver was extremely friendly, commended us on our hotel choice and quickly pointed out ..." Read review

Partying at the Palace (ish) Review with images

AdvantagesComfortable, clean, good staff

DisadvantagesA few faults, doesnt live up to expectations

"...my Christmas party experience at the Strand Palace Hotel. This year, I was in charge of organising our office Christmas party, and, being based in South East London, the department tends to head to Bromley or Greenwich for a meal. But this year we decided to go all out, and go 'up west', and so I came across the Strand Palace hotel on my googlequest and we decided to go posh as well. The booking process was slightly tiresome, seeing as the particular ..." Read review

LONDON'S CALLING

AdvantagesPleasent stay, good food, central location

DisadvantagesViews from room

"The strand palace hotel is as the name suggests in the Strand and is owned by Granada/Forte. It has been established at the same spot since 1907. Needless to say it has come up with the times, and is a highly popular hotel for a variety of reasons. In my view there are a few essentials when you stay in a hotel including: cleanliness, there is nothing worse than paying to go somewhere and loathing touching anything because it’s not clean. After ..." Read review

My Strand Experience

AdvantagesFantastic Location, A Breakfast to Set you Up for the Day, Very Reasonable Rates

DisadvantagesSmall Room in Need of a Refurb (but don't let that put you off!)

"...a wedding being held in the vaults of the Royal Society of Arts, which is also just off Strand. The Strand Palace Hotel is about 3 minutes stroll from the RSA so it was an absolutely perfect location for me. I booked via Hotel Pronto (via QuidCo!) way back in March so getting a single room was fine and the room rate of £79 included breakfast, which, if you pay for it separately is £14...so you could say the room only cost £65 if you want to break ..." Good location for the price

AdvantagesLocation, Breakfast and Room Size

DisadvantagesLarge hotel so can get very busy

"...of West End shows and the Strand Palace is, as the name suggests, right on The Strand. Theatres are like Chinese restaurants in Chinatown on The Strand so we knew that the hotel was in a decent location. Prices + Booking There are over 780 rooms in this hotel, so it's pretty large and there always seems to be availability at any time of the year. We booked directly through the hotel website where they often have special online deals. You can ..." Read review

Stranded in London!

AdvantagesExcellent central location; good bars and restaurants

DisadvantagesRooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey

"Two nights at the Strand Palace and a visit to see the new Dirty Dancing stage show - bought for my wife's birthday. I even paid the extra £20 pppn for a superior "club" room. We were really looking forward to it. Total price was around £240 for the two of us for two nights (no breakfast). We arrived at Covent Garden tube station (the nearest one to the hotel), and after a little finger-in-the-air direction finding, got to the hotel on foot in ..." Read review

Brilliant

AdvantagesLocation

DisadvantagesFood

"...couldnt fault. First of all, the staff here are seriuosly poliet and always tend to your every need. They will do anything for you, all you have to do is ask. Talking from my own experience, I have to say that my room was one of the best I have stayed, based on the price I paided. It had everything I needed, including and ensuite and TV. A safe can also be hired for a fee. The location of this hotel is great. Central London s full of restaurants and ..." Read review

The Strand Palace Hotel

AdvantagesCentral location, clean

DisadvantagesFood, rooms

"...this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double ..." Read review

The Strand Palace Hotel

AdvantagesLocation, toiletries

DisadvantagesExpensive if not booked through third party website

"I've stayed at The Strand Palace a number of times. I generally pay around £85 per night for a double room although I book through a third party as booking directly through the hotel seems to cost in excess of £100 per night. I've no idea why it's listed as 2 star on here given that its 3 star everywhere else. The rooms are a decent size and always clean. The bathroom is stocked with Pascal Morabito toiletries which I appreciate. There's a tv with ..." Read review

Good value but don't spend too much time there!

AdvantagesGreat Location

DisadvantagesNeeds redecoration

"...as they are redecorating all the rooms floor by floor (and the place is huge!) it's going to take a while before all the rooms are update... therefore if you're going to book through a cheapie website for the room, you'll almost definitely be given one of the old rooms... The place is a huge hotel, and has all the basics i.e. room service, comfy beds etc.. and as along as you're just sleeping there ie. not spending all day in your room, then it's ..." Read review

A sanctuary in the heart of London

AdvantagesVery central, well connected, good value, comfortable

Disadvantagesnone to speak of other than the rooms could be bigger

"...London for work or play. The West End theatres are literally round the corner along with all the other central London famous sights. Needless to say transport links are good be it by bus, train, underground, foot or bicycle. Of course driving is not recommended! I found the concierge helpful and polite. The entrance seemed quite grand to me and you immediately felt transported out of the hussle and bussle and into a sanctuary of tranquility. The ..." Read review

You just cant get the staff

AdvantagesThe location

Disadvantagesthe staff

"...this hotel. It was great. The room was brillant, it was just big enough for me and my wife. It was big but wasnt to big where you had too much spare room. It had a nice big bed, and and en-suite bathroom. The hotel staff would be my only complaint as they didnt seem to very helpful. It was my first time in London and I didnt know where any thing was and they didnt help me at all. Food in the restaurante was also great, but if you dont like it, there ..." Read review

Strand Palace Hotel

Advantagescentrally located, near to attractions

Disadvantagesno free wifi

"...is no ironing board in the room but at each level, there is one corner dedicated for it. Kettle is provided as well as a safe to lock up your valuable stuff. Breakfast is provided with the usual fare of beacon, ham, bread, cheese and etc. While the room is pretty small, the facilities and its location makes up for it. Located along Strand Road, in central London, it is within walking distance to many attractions and the nearest tube station, ..." Read review
