    Disadvantages Disadvantages Work in progress

When Lee Mead won BBC's 'Any Dream Will Do' my mum was ecstatic. She had probably spent half her wages voting for him, so tickets to see him play Joseph were an obvious choice for her birthday in November last year. Thinking it was a brilliant idea, she then invited my nan and aunt, and just for good measure, I decided to drag my husband along as I'd never experienced a show in Londons famous theatre land. We soon realised it was a fair way to travel and we had might as well make the most of our adventure and booked a show and stay theatre trip. After reading up on the choice of hotels, we ... more

3 Stars Partying at the Palace (ish) Review with images 19/12/2005

Advantages Advantages Comfortable, clean, good staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages A few faults, doesnt live up to expectations

This review is about my Christmas party experience at the Strand Palace Hotel. This year, I was in charge of organising our office Christmas party, and, being based in South East London, the department tends to head to Bromley or Greenwich for a meal. But this year we decided to go all out, and go 'up west', and so I came across the Strand Palace hotel on my googlequest and we decided to go posh as well. The booking process was slightly tiresome, seeing as the particular member of staff we made our booking through was somewhat challenged in the brains department. The initial booking process ... more

Advantages Advantages Pleasent stay, good food, central location

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Views from room

The strand palace hotel is as the name suggests in the Strand and is owned by Granada/Forte. It has been established at the same spot since 1907. Needless to say it has come up with the times, and is a highly popular hotel for a variety of reasons. In my view there are a few essentials when you stay in a hotel including: cleanliness, there is nothing worse than paying to go somewhere and loathing touching anything because it’s not clean. After all you are paying a quite substantial fee sometimes, so cleanliness is utmost important. Second on my criteria is the ability to make tea in your room ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic Location, A Breakfast to Set you Up for the Day, Very Reasonable Rates

Disadvantages Disadvantages Small Room in Need of a Refurb (but don't let that put you off!)

I was only staying overnight in London for one night in early June, as I was attending a wedding being held in the vaults of the Royal Society of Arts, which is also just off Strand. The Strand Palace Hotel is about 3 minutes stroll from the RSA so it was an absolutely perfect location for me. I booked via Hotel Pronto (via QuidCo!) way back in March so getting a single room was fine and the room rate of £79 included breakfast, which, if you pay for it separately is £14...so you could say the room only cost £65 if you want to break it down. Upon arrival at the hotel, which is just minutes ... more

Advantages Advantages Location, Breakfast and Room Size

Disadvantages Disadvantages Large hotel so can get very busy

What Made Me Choose This Hotel? We were visiting London to see a couple of West End shows and the Strand Palace is, as the name suggests, right on The Strand. Theatres are like Chinese restaurants in Chinatown on The Strand so we knew that the hotel was in a decent location. Prices + Booking There are over 780 rooms in this hotel, so it's pretty large and there always seems to be availability at any time of the year. We booked directly through the hotel website where they often have special online deals. You can also call the hotel direct to make a reservation. Various discount hotel websites ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent central location; good bars and restaurants

Disadvantages Disadvantages Rooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey

Two nights at the Strand Palace and a visit to see the new Dirty Dancing stage show - bought for my wife's birthday. I even paid the extra £20 pppn for a superior "club" room. We were really looking forward to it. Total price was around £240 for the two of us for two nights (no breakfast). We arrived at Covent Garden tube station (the nearest one to the hotel), and after a little finger-in-the-air direction finding, got to the hotel on foot in under 10 minutes at a leisurely pace. Check-in was a little busy when we got there at 2:30 - we waited in the queue for around 20 minutes, but it was ... more

This is such a great hotel. I stayed here a couple of months ago, and I can honestly say that I couldnt fault. First of all, the staff here are seriuosly poliet and always tend to your every need. They will do anything for you, all you have to do is ask. Talking from my own experience, I have to say that my room was one of the best I have stayed, based on the price I paided. It had everything I needed, including and ensuite and TV. A safe can also be hired for a fee. The location of this hotel is great. Central London s full of restaurants and dining places, which means that even if you dont ... more

    Advantages Advantages Central location, clean

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Food, rooms

We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a ... more

    Advantages Advantages Location, toiletries

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive if not booked through third party website

I've stayed at The Strand Palace a number of times. I generally pay around £85 per night for a double room although I book through a third party as booking directly through the hotel seems to cost in excess of £100 per night. I've no idea why it's listed as 2 star on here given that its 3 star everywhere else. The rooms are a decent size and always clean. The bathroom is stocked with Pascal Morabito toiletries which I appreciate. There's a tv with sky channels, pay wi-fi, hairdryer etc. The staff are very polite and willing to help. With regard to location, the hotel is located on the Strand ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great Location

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Needs redecoration

It's just recently gone through an overhaul.. and as they are redecorating all the rooms floor by floor (and the place is huge!) it's going to take a while before all the rooms are update... therefore if you're going to book through a cheapie website for the room, you'll almost definitely be given one of the old rooms... The place is a huge hotel, and has all the basics i.e. room service, comfy beds etc.. and as along as you're just sleeping there ie. not spending all day in your room, then it's a great budget style hotel especially as it's got a great location! Right on the strand nr Charing ... more
