Lovely food, beautiful location

Advantages: lovely food, beautiful location
Disadvantages: little bit expensive, no outside area really

...have a special occasion as the food is really good quality but quite pricey. I've celebrated my graduation here, my grandparents' 80ths and my engagement as it's the sort of restaurant that you don't just go to every day! The location: This pub is set on the road between Kendal and Windermere (The back road as locals call it) The B5284 to be precise! The road can be quite busy in the day but you don't notice it once inside the pub's old thick stone ...
...white-washed cottages set back off the road. And, according to some research I just did, it was built in 1711 so it is steeped in history. Opposite the pub are acres and acres of rolling countryside so it is very peaceful (when it's in the evening and no cars are zooming past!) ...impressions it looked good as the car park was full and the bar area was bustling. We had to wait a while for a table despite it being a Thursday night! Staff were very polite and accommodating, they soon found us a table and presented us with a menu. The menu was quite small really, there weren't many options but there was a good variety of meats including; game pie, salmon, chicken supreme etc. The specials board had a good choice though which ...
...good variety instead of offering the usual things there were some different choices like deep fried cheeses and hummus too. The food tasted delicious. It was all so very fresh and tasty. You could tell that it had been prepared from fresh and was all homemade and not frozen. I had a vegetable crumble for main which was absoloutely lovely.
