Trafford Spender!

Advantages: Wide range of shops, plenty of places to eat, easily accessible by Public transport
Disadvantages: Can get very busy, especially in the school Holidays & at Xmas

I remember the day when the Trafford Centre - one of the largest shopping centres in Europe, opened. There I was, stood outside this magnificent building that looked far too posh to be a shopping centre, hoping that the shops inside wouldn't be all designer and that I would be able to afford to buy something from there. I'm lucky really - the Trafford Centre (from now on I will refer to it as the TC) is literally 5 minutes drive away from my house ...
...I visit the TC at least once a week - sometimes not to shop at all, but to have a walk around, get some lunch and generally window shop for a full hour. Anyway, before I talk about the TC nowadays, I want to take you back…….. The Beginning The Idea of the TC was conceived in 1984 by Peel Holdings, who are the largest privately owned landowner in the North West. Another one of peel Holdings more popular 'buildings' is Liverpool John ...

Love it or Hate it

Advantages: All you need under one roof
Disadvantages: Can be busy

The Trafford Centre, Love it or hate it the choice is up to you. Personally i think it is a god send. How can something which employs thousands of people and create enjoyment for many people be a bad thing? Lets start off with the structure.... When i first visited the Trafford Centre when it first opened, i thought it looked quite spectacular. Starting off with Debenhams at one end with a small glass dome on the top and then along the mall to ...
...following on from that to the dome above the Dolphin fountain, (on to that soon) All in all it looks pretty good outside with pillars, statues, water features and plants. Inside is a work of art. There are palm trees in the middle of the malls, marble and grannit floors on entrances to all rows of shop units. Looking up at the ceilings and some walls you will see many oil paintings resembling works of art from the reniesance. With the brass fixtures ...

Come with me to Shoppers Paradise

Advantages: Everything you could possibly want and more
Disadvantages: Very very busy on Saturdays

The Trafford Centre is the biggest shopping centre in the North West. It is enormous. Just about everything you would possibly want to buy, and many things you would not, can be purchased at this maharaja of malls. Come with me, and I'll take you on a guided tour of Shopping Paradise… Getting There +++++++++++++ The TC is situated between junctions 9 and 10 of the M60. It's very well signposted from the motorway (just keep following Trafford Park ...
...frequent buses from Manchester to the centre's own bus station, and the Metrolink (which you can get on at lots of stops in Manchester city centre or at its railway stations) connects to the buses at Stretford. You can't miss it. It's a colossal domed affair, totally befitting a temple of consumerism. Parking +++++++ The TC has seven large car parks, a coach park and a special Shopmobility car park. That's TEN THOUSAND car parking spaces in all. ...

comfort

Advantages: shops
Disadvantages: None

Holidays are looming, the family needs new clothes, suntan lotion, cameras etc the list goes on. I cannot face another day traipsing round town centres, not knowing whether to put a coat on or even if I should take a brolly. (British weather) So I decided to take the family to the Trafford centre. It has been up and running for a few years now, but this was my first visit, and yes I will definately go there again. All under one roof suits me fine, ...
...in the rain. The centre itself is warm and friendly, with two floors of shops, shops and more shops what more could you want. The floors are made of granite and marble very attractive and clean, no more doggy poop and other nasty surprises waiting for you to step in, there are also water features dotted around. Dolphins shooting the water 20 metres high is a sight for sore eyes and fascinating for the kids. Shops include big names such as Selfridges, ...

Shopping, Food And Entertainment

Advantages: Fantastic shops, facilities and entertainment
Disadvantages: Can be very crowded, queues for all food outlets, restaurants

...I once came out of the wrong exit in the Arndale Centre, completely lost my bearings and ended up in China Town. I had to ask a policeman for directions back to where I parked the car. Where can one satisfy her addiction? There needs to be loads of shops of all different kinds, especially at Christmas time. Sports shops for the lads, clothes shops for the girls, toyshops for the kids, pampering shops for me, restaurants (for me) gadget shops, (for ...
...signposted information, not just for the journey there but getting around the shops as well. If you visit a city centre you will generally have to move from one place to another, one large dept store to another, one end of town to the other in order to satisfy a great lust for shopping. Along the way, if you’re like me, you will find yourself asking for directions every two minutes, where’s Debenhams? Where’s Marks and Spencer? Where are the bloody ...

New Trafford

Advantages: huge, big sales, clean & tidy, all the brands
Disadvantages: too far away from Manchester

...was by lots to far the biggest, most completed, most tidy and many many pros more. A friend of mine suggested it to me so I took Mrs aek21 to go by train. When we arrive in Piccadilly station we knew were to go. Thanks God ‘cause the town is in a very big mess and no one knows where to go. Anyway we went to Manchester Piccadilly bus station ant we took the bus 250. We paid £3.60 pp return and after a 20’ drive we end up to the Trafford ...
...We decided to enter from the Selfridges entrance, as it was very convenient for us. I will not start explain the design of the shops, but I just want to emphasise on the outstanding effort that those people paid in order to accomplish such a state of modern art, a modern Ark of shops. Everywhere white with grey watermarks marble and palm trees. Alongside the pathway little small shops selling ice cream, savoury, scarves etc and everywhere clean ...

Two Levels of Dante's Inferno

Advantages: Somewhere to go inside if it is raining.
Disadvantages: It is a diabolical Hell house.

...ventured into, and somehow survived, the Trafford Centre. I went today, one of the hottest and humid days of the year so far. Sunbathing? Swimming? No. Instead, following Mrs Claw around the monstrous greenhouse that is the North's premier shopping centre. It was quite literally a sauna in there. Brief sprints on the M62 and M60 led us to the Inferno. From the outside it looks like a huge pagan temple, all spires and turrets. Inside it's a homage ...
...a stick at. The food court offers New York, New Orleans, and Chinatown, to name a few. 35 restaurants and eateries to choose from. Beyond that, the shops. 266 of them. There's just about everything; from Selfridges to the Sock Shop, from Tommy Hilfiger to HMV, from Debenhams to Dorothy Perkins. Out of them all there's only a handful you actually buy from. The vastness of the place is truly daunting. Mrs Claw had to drag me round. Yes, I think the ...

My review of The Trafford Centre comes from a slightly different perspective as i work and shop there , in fact i'm never away from the place ! but i have noticed that some of the reviews on here are out of date with what happening now ! OPENING TIMES Shops Mon - Fri 10 am - 10 pm Saturday 10am to 8pm Sunday 12pm to 6pm Leisure Mon - Friday 10 am - Midnight Saturday 9 am - Midnight Sunday 10 am - Midnight LOCATION ... ...The centre is easily accessible by public transport, there is a shuttle bus( ML1) which runs from the near-by metrolink station at Stretford very frequantly. The metrolink network connects to the rail network at Altricham and Manchester therefore making the centre accessible from further afield easily Various buses run to and from the centre , it is very easy to find the bus you need as the centre has its own bus station located near Debenhams There ...

Decapitated Teddies and Banana Fudgie Bits

Advantages: Loads of shops, loads of parking, loads of food
Disadvantages: Not enough trendy gear around

The Trafford Centre, near Manchester, is the North West’s premier shopping centre. Situated between junctions 9 and 10 on the M60, the site is extremely accessible to all visitors – you can hardly miss the St Paul’s replica dome as you come along the motorway – and it is far and away the most interesting out of town shopping centre I have yet to visit. Built on two floors, the centre comprises a central department store (Selfridge’s) ...
...side. At the far end of the first avenue is another department store – Debenham’s – and at the far end of the other is a hall of stalls and speciality shops called The Festival Village. One thing that really aggravates me about modern shopping centres is the way in which they are positioned as offering “a great day out” when in fact they become extremely dull after about 30 minutes. The Trafford Centre is different – ...

The Trafford Centre MAJOR REWRITE

Advantages: Free to park, lots of shops and decent entertainment sections too.
Disadvantages: Gets busy at weekends, some very expensive places to shop and eat.

...it already - DOH) The Trafford Centre may well be the shoppers idea of Paradise (Moose perks up her ears.) Opened in September 1998, and just a stones throw from where I was living at the time, the massive centre took shape on top of previously overgrown waste ground in Davyhulme, Manchester. The Trafford Centre is among the largest shopping centres in Europe, but it has more to offer than just shops, as I’ll explain later. Before I go on ...
...a shopaholic, and secondly with the centre on my doorstep for 3 years I used to go there amazingly regularly, so I know it pretty well. As a result I’ve reviewed it and included my favourite bargain “hotspots” so you’ll have an idea of where to look** :o) ** In no way do I guarantee you a bargain ! :o) The Shops. The Trafford Centre has a vast array of shops, and pretty much something to suit everyone. For the most part ...

A temple of modern retailing

Advantages: Free parking, lots to see and buy, extensive selection of food choices, excellent toilet facilities, child care, a juice bar!
Disadvantages: Can be expensive and VERY busy

...heard of if, of course, the Trafford Centre excels at self-publicity. I hadn’t had any desire to go there, though, until I heard there was a juice bar. I have ALWAYS wanted to go to a juice bar. OK, I would have preferred it to be in California, but Manchester was a start. We trundled off without a map, knowing that it was a huge complex and would be hard to miss. Hard, not impossible. The Centre is next to the old M53 motorway – now ...
...it several times, always on the other side of the motorway nowhere near an exit. Eventually we got there – you take exit 9 or 10 off the M60. Apparently there is also a new bus service – the Trafford Metro Shuttle Bus, but I haven’t used this so can’t comment on it. The Centre is vast - a temple to modern retailing. It is actually quite attractive, it appeals to my sense of symmetry. There is a large blue/green dome in the ...

SHOPPERS PARADISE

Advantages: SHOP TILL YOU DROP
Disadvantages: NONE

As I stepped in to the mega shopping emporium which was the Trafford Centre I wanted to scream with delight and do cartwheels all the way down the spacious and immaculatley polished floors! This place is a shoppers paradise! I didn't take much cash with me, promising myself that I would resist temptation and not expecting this massive shopping mall to be anywhere as good as it was. Thankgod for credit cards!!! The first thing that struck me was ...
...of rubbish in sight. The shopping centre is spread out over two floors, the upstairs department is accesable by escalators and lifts are provided for disabled access. A word of warning...Get a map available at the entrance...You will need it! It will give you some idea of how many shops there are and believe me you will have to prioratise which ones you want to go in because this place is so big! We started our trip with a coffee stop in a small ...

Everything under one roof

Advantages: Lots of shops
Disadvantages: none

...Cheshire, I use to frequent the Trafford Centre regularly and it must be my favourite thing about Manchester. It is a huge retail park all undercover and designed in a pretentious grand manor with marble floors and golden statues everywhere, with lots of restaurants and a large cinema. The Trafford centre also has several huge car parks holding thousands of cars all free of charge, but even with this capacity, at Christmas, the motorways backup with ...
...I'll try to describe it the best that I can. ~~Location~~ It can be found just off the M60 Manchester Ring-road, between junctions 9 and 10. There are several signs for it as you approach it from around 2 junctions away, as well as on the M62 approaching the M60. For those who need to use a Sat Nav unit the postal code is M17 8AA. The Site also has several retail shops surrounding the centre such as B&Q, Comet, Asda, etc. As well as the indoor artificial ...

Try the Trafford centre for a great day out

Advantages: All under one roof, great shops, lots of places to eat, caters for everyones needs
Disadvantages: Can sometimes be crowded

I first visited the Trafford Centre a couple of years ago. I now live in Manchester and frequently visit the centre. There are over 280 shops within the complex, 35 restaurants. It is also Europe’s largest foodcourt. The opening hours are as follows: Mon-Fri 10 am-9 pm, Saturday 9 am-7 pm, Sunday 12 noon-6pm. Also, parking isn’t a problem if you’re driving to the centre, as there are 10,000 free parking spaces. The Trafford Centre ...
...M60 Manchester Orbital Motorway, (formerly the M63). Also bus services operate from all parts of the region direct to their own on-site bus-station. The clothes shops include Selfridges, BHS, H&M, Debenhams and many more. There are many designer shops, and loads of really good discount and bargain shops. The shops cater for everyone, any age. They have a number of sports shops (JJB, Streetwise sports, JD for instance), electrical shops (Dixons etc) ...
