...had been to Italy in the Month of June 2007. It was on a saturday we made our visit to Vatican City. We read lot of articles describing the queue hence we planned our visit sometime early morning (around 8). HOW TO
------------
Rome is well connected. To get around rome by Metro (train) and bus is very easy.
There are basically two lines. Metroline B (Blue Line) and Metroline A(Red Line). Metroline A goes to Vatican City. You need to depart at ... ...there was some accident in the metroline on the day of our visit and Metroline A was closed. We had to look for an alternative. We anyway had enough details about bus routes. We then took Bus Route No.64 from Termini(main railstation) and got down near St.Peter's Basilica (worlds' largest Basilica).
St.Peter's Basilica and Vatican Museum are not too far. It is easy to locate. It was 10 A.M by the time we reached St.Peters Basilica. There is an information ...

...really want to go to the Vatican Museum? Expecting nothing I took the metro to Ottaviano. It was not difficult to know which way to go, I just followed the crowds and after about five minutes I was confronted with the huge walls of the Vatican City.
Signs point you in the right direction, which is following the wall up a gentle slope to the entrance of the Museum. The first thing that struck me was how modern the interior was the second was the ... ...taste of how efficiently run the Vatican is, this was the only museum in Italy where the staff seemed not only regimented but very neatly turned out in a Vatican uniform.
Unlike all the other museums around Italy there is no free entrance for students, although I did try. There are over four miles of galleries to go through before you get to see the Sistine Chapel. I had read that there are short cuts but I didn’t see them. If this is a first ...

Advantages: Beautiful and fascinating Disadvantages: Crowded and lack of exhibit information.
...read previous reviews I spent the summer of 2002 in Italy. The Vatican city of course was on my list of places to visit including the Vatican Museum.
The first thing to note when visiting these museums is to make sure your knees and shoulders are covered. This is easily forgotten in the heat of Italy, but it is essential. Tickets to the museum cost 10 Euros (well they did in 2000) and if my memory serves me well check the opening times (something ... ...On entry to the museum be prepared to be searched and have any luggage examined...it's rather like being at an airport, and then be prepared to walk!! The museum is big...give yourself plenty of time! The museum is not big on guide books but many of the items will have a audio symbol next to it and if you collect an audio guide as you enter you will learn much about the collection this way. In fact this selects what you look at. It's a good way of ...

Advantages: Fantastic art Disadvantages: Long Queue
...devotee, I agreed to visit the vatican museum as my wife was extremely keen. Having checked the opening times (very important to do this, as they do vary) we followed the throng from the Metro station. The queue was several hundred metres long, this being a Saturday morning, but was moving fairly quickly. The atmosphere was pleasant with many conversations taking place between "fellow queuers". After just less than an hour we were in, cost 12 euros ... ...impossible to describe in words the sights that greeted you inside. If you wanted it could take you several hours to work your way through. Although the Sistine chapel is the main room that most go to see, our favourite was the long gallery which we felt eclipsed the Sistine. There are many narrow staircases and wheel chair access would be almost impossible. ...
