...to stay, when one of the girls in the office stumbled across the Victoria hotel in Abingdon Road, Oxford at £62/single room, per night. We duly booked our three rooms and waited with trepidation based on other experiences. On our arrival, my colleagues were a little apprehensive without justification. The hotel is run by an Eastern European gentleman and his wife, who after advising us that we couldn't smoke in the rooms welcomed us like long lost ... ...a number of towels. All the facilities were quite new and so clean you could have eaten your dinner out of them. An iron & ironing board is available on request, although be prepared to do this little exercise in public. The hotel has 20 rooms, all en-suite, and one with a four poster bed. THE BAR This was small, and choice was limited to soft drinks(£1.20), spirits, chilled bottled beers (£2.30) and wine, accompanied by a bowl of crisps. There is ...
