Advantages: Scenery, Visual Impact of the Food, Friendly Locals Disadvantages: Value for Money - perehaps a little expensive, awkward to find.
The White Horse of Woolley Moor is set upon a beautiful backdrop, the hills around rolling for miles and the roads twisting and turning. These roads will take your tastebuds on a journey towards some of the finest 'pub food' that I believe Derbyshire has to offer.
Many reviews exist of the White Horse, terms such as "par", "average", "cluttered" and "quantity rather than quality" seem to dominate them. However, the pub/restaraunt has recently been ... ...change of direction.
The foods has taken a step away from the tradtional pub menu. While favorites such as the Gammon Steak and Sandwiches do remain, there is a clear shift of emphasis with meals such as Lemon Sole and Venison making a welcome appearance. Not only haasa the food changed for the better, but the visual aspect has taken a large step in the 'food as art' direction. No longer to the playes appear cluttered - now the food is artfully ...

Advantages: Food, Scenery, Gardens Disadvantages: Poor Service
The White Horse is definitely set in beautiful surroundings and is a lovely pub to visit. I liked the modern refurbishment and the food was presented well and tasted wonderful. The waitress staff were also very kind and helpful, however we were treated very rudely by the owner who made us feel unwelcome from the start when an extra guest had been added to our party. He made us feel lucky that he had been able to fit our guest in, even though the ... ...o clock, when sitting in the gardens finishing off our drinks, we were informed very rudely that the pub was to close and that the owners wanted the gardens back for themselves. It was a glorious summer afternoon and we would have ordered more drinks and stayed to soak up the sun if we were not made to feel so awkward. I was not impressed with the way we were spoken to at all and will not be going back to visit. ...
