The works which also trades under the name of Booksale, Book Depot and Banana Bookshop has about 139 branches throughout the UK. It sells mainly remaindered books which are basically the publishers stock which they have not sold to bookshops at the full price. The works is one of those shops that are always worth a quick visit to see what’s on offer if you are passing. Many people think that it is just another ‘cheap’ shop but if ... ...quality bargains intermingled with the cheap stuff.
But they also sell current books at very reduced prices. These books may be very slightly substandard or damaged in some way so they cannot be sold at full price. These are most usually found in the section that contains £1.99 or 2 for £3 paperback selection which contains a mixture of fiction and non-fiction. ...as banana book shops in the south west of england and is usually found in out of town retail villlages.
It was wonderful to find the works bookshop in the centre of a busy town. Stacked with reasonably priced books to suit all taste. There were also a selection of witty gretting cards and gifts and great ideas to keep little ones entertained.
I managed to but seven books for under twenty pounds an absolute bargain.
