The Thistle is minutes walk from Marble Arch Station, which is on the Central Line. Unless you really do have the kitchen sink with you, a tube journey is feasible. Excellent hotel for a good price. We booked this place off Lastminute, so the rate was discounted.
We stayed here for New Year\'s Eve, which turned out to be the perfect idea. I'd highly recommend doing this if you're ever in London on that day, because trying to get public transport back from seeing the fireworks is a NIGHTMARE. For other uses, the location is perfect - just off Oxford St - but for us, it was a little far (actually, very far from ... ...should be paying more than you are. The lobby is beautifully decorated and the rooms mirror that. Room service is available for those who are willing to splash out (not cheap!!), but ordering up for breakfast is extortionate! We didn't eat anything there, only staying one night, but it was worth it. The TV channels are a bit limited for such a nice place, but I guess we weren't there to watch TV! Comfy bed & deluxe bathroom.

Advantages: Location Disadvantages: The price it would have been without the special rate!
The location of this hotel was great, right in the city centre at Marble Arch, and as with most London hotels, only a short walk to a tube station.
The lobby looked quite grand and you travel up on escalators to get to the check in area.
We asked about an upgraded room when we checked in, as I'd read free upgrades were common at the time, but the receptionsit was quite non-plussed and said we'd have to pay extra for this - we left it.
The room ... ...be well cleaned other than a sock that was hanging on the inside door handle! That did cause us to wonder if the room had actually been cleaned at all, or if it was an oversight. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and didn't actually mention this, although in hindsight we probably should have done!
It was a bit of a trek from the lift to our room, but we didn't really mind this.
