Thomas Cook Took Us

Advantages: Clean Cabins, Food OK
Disadvantages: Cramped, Pricey On Board Snacks, Some Check In Confusion.

...to go with some reviews, Thomas Cook Airlines, here's yours. I will divide the review into UK Pre-Flight, Outbound Flight, Overseas Pre-Flight & Inbound Flight as I there are so many elements I feel I need to mention to get a fair and balanced review. USEFUL INFO: Flight No: TCX 334 Dates 6/09/2006 & 14/09/2006 From: Manchester Terminal 2 To: Rhodes Plane: Boeing 757-200 (235 Seats) UK PRE-FLIGHT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Check In ********** We had ...
...to enlist the service of Thomas Cook Airlines to obtain our tickets. At Manchester Airport, Thomas Cook have a dedicated check in area in Terminal 2, on our departure day it was check in desk 2-7 and you apparently could check in for any Thomas Cook flight departing on that day, according to the above desk TV monitor. Each desk is seperated by fabric barriers. As we had arrived at 1pm for a 7pm flight, this was very handy. Around the queuing area, ...

Thomas Cook-ing it to Canada

Advantages: Cheap, clean and cheerful
Disadvantages: Not for those who want to bring half their house in their luggage!

...I was pretty happy with Thomas Cook! I flew with them from Gatwick (London, England) to Vancouver in Canada and back last summer. One of the weird things about this is that it doesn’t seem to be possible to book on these flights through the Thomas Cook website! I booked via Canadian Affair. I’ve done a separate review on them if you want to look it up. I also paid for an upgrade to 'Premier' class and I suppose partly because of that check-in was ...
...I had been to the Thomas Cook desk to check what was happening. They said they’d try and get a mushroom free meal put on for me. On the plane though they didn’t seem to sure if this had happened and there were no ingredients listed on my pasta. So I had to do the poking routine, which I hate… On the way back it was worse. No Thomas Cook counter in Vancouver… On the plane I asked if I could get one the standard options since the vegetable curry they ...

Brace yourselves!

Advantages: Gets you to your destination
Disadvantages: Low luggage allowance, uncomfortable, poor service

...returned from a flight with Thomas Cook airlines, and after being off the plane for 48 hours, I am happy to report that my legs have now completely straightened out! Our check in with Thomas Cook was very easy and hassle free, we were very early for the check in and there wasn't a single person in front of us in the queue. Our hold baggage was checked in, and our hand luggage was simply looked at - I was a bit annoyed about this as I spent ages making ...
...magazine, but I don't hold Thomas Cook responsible for this!) Whilst we were taxiing the runway the pilot announces that he is sorry for the humid conditions - it was exceptionally hot - but the system isn't functioning as it should be. Quite frankly, if my plane isn't working properly, I want off!! Alas it is too late to disembark so I face a nervous two hours (thank god it wasn't longer) in a broken tiny plane! We opted out of the in flight meal ...

Long haul, not a problem with Thomas Cook

Advantages: Great service, comfortable seats
Disadvantages: the usual weight restrictions

...(I never knew they did), Thomas Cook have now bought their own fleet of Aeroplanes, and have been running them now for a few years after buying out a German Airline company. They use the fairly new Airbus A330, which boasts a 35 inch seat pitch, which is the best out of any scheduled or chartered airlines flying to Canada, and thats just for Economy class. On boarding the plane, you are greeted by the very smart looking stewardess's in their blue ...
...especially with Canadian Affair and Thomas Cook, and would recommend to anyone thinking of a trip to Canada (they do east coast flights to Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Halifax as well). I now regularly receive the newsletter with their tempting low cost flights, in mail form and to my e-mail box, and it probably won't belong before I'm off there again. So check the website for the latest prices, and get yourself over there now for the spectacular ...

We Flew to Corfu with Thomas Cook

Advantages: Gets you there, pretty good food
Disadvantages: Passenger Scrum in Corfu

...on a charter flight with Thomas Cook and as this was a new experience for me, I wanted to review it and compare it with the other flights I have taken over the years. Our flight out from London Gatwick was an early one at 6.20am, with a 2 hour check-in. This meant leaving our nice comfortable hotel at 3am. Yuck! Arriving at the South Terminal, we soon located the Thomas Cook check-in desk and even though check-in wasn't supposed to be open yet, ...
...about the seat pitch on Thomas Cook flights, but I had plenty of room (not difficult, being 5 foot nothing!) but Lovely Man was also just about ok, and he's 6 foot 2 inches. (For the uninitiated, the seat pitch is the distance between the back of your seat and the back of the seat in front of you, indicating the amount of leg room available. Good seat pitch is about 30 inches or more.) The safety demonstration took place mostly via the entertainment ...

Holiday to Crete Review 1 - The Airline

Advantages: Light and Bright, Good Reputation, Friendly and extra smiley crew!
Disadvantages: Little legroom, OK Meals

...was we were in the Thomas Cook Travel shop and buying the tickets for a fortnight. BACKGROUND As part of the Thomas Cook package we were departing from our chosen airport, London Gatwick Airport (LGW) and were flying with Thomas Cook, a new experience for me but I have heard great things about them, none to be doubted. We arrived three hours before departure (very early, and I thought it was only long-haul flights that had three hours, but this ...
...times. And the safety demostration. Thomas Cook have there own safety demonstration of which they play on the TV screens and afterwards run through the dull but meaning full explanations of what to do if the oxygen in the air cabin fails and if we have an emergency landing in the water, lets face the facts guys, we are likely to die! So far so good! The safety demonstration was indepth and very thorough and the cabin attendants seemed happy and ...

Cattle class all the way.

Advantages: Cheap.
Disadvantages: Most cramped seats of any airline I've ever flown with.

...back in April 2006 with Thomas Cook Airlines. As we holiday in the northern part of the island and usually fly with the grossly overpriced Cyprus Turkish Airlines, this was the first time that we had chosen to fly to an airport in the south with a cheaper charter flight and then cross the border into the north, all in the name of saving quite a lot of money. Perhaps if you are five foot tall and don't really put much stock in an expectation of an ...
...resolved not to fly with Thomas Cook again. First, the legroom (or, more accurately, the lack of it). I am 5' 10'', and even when sitting quite straight in my seat, my knees were pressing uncomfortably against the seat in front. I dread to think how uncomfortable it must have been for anyone over six foot. I know that budget airlines squeeze in as many seats as they can possibly fit in, but when you get on the plane and see for yourself just how ...

...to write a review on Thomas Cook Airlines. Flight tickets can be purchased either online direct from the Thomas Cook website or from just about any tour operator. Due to our party size our tickets couldn’t be purchased online but we were able to buy them over the phone through the phone number listed on their website. The sales service was excellent, the tickets arrived in ample time and came with plenty of baggage labels. We arrived early to check ...
...All in all I felt Thomas Cook Airlines offered a good service, they were accommodating with my husbands golf clubs and very helpful with the babies, as with all small planes the seating was quite cramped but they found extra space for my very tall sister-in-law. Both the outward and return flight left promptly and we did not queue or wait unnecessarily for anything. As with regards to the baby changing area this was sufficient for an emergency change ...

Thomas Cook airlines are good

Advantages: Nice, pleasent staff, clean plane , nice meal, good allround service
Disadvantages: none in my experience

...you about my experience with Thomas cook airlines. Obviously my flight was not long haul but heading on for the 4 hour mark to Fuerteventura this is long enough for me on a plane. Check in at Gatwick South Terminal a couple of weeks ago was much more busier than I expected, especially at 5.00AM. There were about 6 or 7 check in desks operational at this time with three or four not being used. The queue was massive and we had to wait about 45 minutes. ...
...coming come these were NOT thomas cook personell and have to say were more intrested in speaking to each other - our check in person never even said a word to us!) At the boarding gate again we were met by Thomas cook personnel. Seating was called in batches of row numbers which made things a lot easier for actually boarding the plane. Again all staff very pleasant. Service on the plane was just as good. We were offered the choice to purchase drinks ...

comfortable airline for short people!

Advantages: friendly &reliable
Disadvantages: LEG ROOM!

We have travelled twice with Thomas Cook Airlines. The last being in November 2004, flying from Glasgow to Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt). Check-in was 3 hours before departure and the desks even opened slightly early . The staff were friendly and helpful even although it was still only 5am! Everyone moved slowly forward for the usual weighing of bags, security questions -have you packed your own bags? Has anyone asked you to carry anything for them? Then, ...
...If you are departing with Thomas Cook in Glasgow the desks are located in the small Terminal 2 Building. The flight was called on time and everybody boarded the plane. The friendly stewardesses located everybody to their seats. The leg room on board is limited to say the least , I am 6ft 2in and when I sat down I couldn't put my knees together ,the row in front was so close, with my elbow touching the back of my seat my fist could touch the seat ...

...and the flight was with Thomas Cook... MY EXPERIANCE Arrive at the airport three hours before the flight, as reccomended on the flight ticket and by the staff in the Thomas Cook high street branch. Went to the checkin desk, showed them all of our tickets and passports and then they weighed out bads/luggage. Everything was fine and they put the bags to on the luggage tray to go on the plane when it arrived... And then we went through to the deperature ...
...Boeing 757 and it was Thomas Cook!! The Plane was pretty clean, i couldn't find anything that stood out as a health and safety hazard! The flight wasn't crowded much, there were still a few spear seats left. And then the flight sadly came to an end. So this review has come to and end as theres nothing else to say here. SUMMARY They have very friendly staff and were hasslefree for me :-) I high reccomend them for families who want a good value holiday ...

...the terrible experiences on board Thomas Cook Airlines. The first time i flew with Thomas Cook was a few years ago when going to Florida. I arrived at the airport very excited as this was my first long haul flight. After waiting in the checkout queue for well over an hour with no explaination for the delay, a solitary Thomas Cook rep came out with a pile of letters, gave them to the person at the front of the queue and told them to take one and pass ...
...and again there was no Thomas Cook rep in sight. On returning to the UK we found out why the 23 hour delay was caused. An airliner in Canada had broken down so Thomas Cook loaned one of its aircraft to it as the payment they recieved as compensation from the other airline was more than the cost of putting us up in a hotel for the night. Not really doing much in the way of making its own customers happy. But what made us even more infuriated was the ...

Stressless holiday? I think not!

...family and I went with Thomas Cook to Cyprus. My father was responsible for booking the holiday and typically he was too busy. Then about two weeks before he admitted to the family he had not booked a holiday. So we told him to get on the computer and not come off until he found a holiday. He eventually found a holiday for the following week. Unfortunately by booking late you don't get much choice so we had to take off from Manchester Terminal 2. ...
...had a bad impression if Thomas Cook for the ridiculous time I was waking up. We had pre-paid for parking near the terminal so we had secure parking while we were on holiday. However when we were in Manchester we couldn't find the stupid parking place. This caused great difficulty as we were driving around for ages trying to find it. Also the roads have names on the houses rather than on the edge so we didn't even know the name of the streets. Eventually ...

Don’t Book Thomas Cook

Advantages: Friendly staff, also see review
Disadvantages: Expensive in general, also see review

We used this airline a couple of weeks ago on the way to and from Turkey. We didn’t book a holiday with them, only flights, and for me they weren’t the best flights we’ve had. In a nutshell (the review’s probably more readable this way): ~’~’~ GOOD POINTS ~’~’~ * They are very child friendly, as we were boarding, my sister got given a fun pack to keep her occupied (crayons, books, activities etc), a pillow and a blanket. * There are plenty of ...
...staff are perfectly willing to hand them out. * Friendly staff, they will listen to what you want and need and always remain in a good mood no matter how many people they’ve got calling them. * Good in-flight entertainment: On the way there we watched Shrek2 and on the way back we watched The Day After Tomorrow. After this they had a good selection of shorter programmes, and also a wide choice of radio to listen to, although you have to buy a headset ...

Only a Travel Agent - Flying with Thomas Cook

Advantages: leather seats, friendly staff, good food
Disadvantages: pre-allocated seats which could not be changed

...to and from Austria with Thomas Cook and I have to admit I previously had no idea that they actually ran an airline themselves! A friend of mine booked the flights through the Barclaycard travel service and we got a good discount on our whole skiing holiday as Barclaycard holders. The whole holiday was provided by Thomas Cook along with Neilson Holidays and everything thankfully ran very smoothly. I flew from Gatwick to Innsbruck and and as a nervous ...
...Thomas Cook flying aeroplanes. However, as soon as I saw the plane, my fears were allayed and friendly staff were on standby on the plane to show you to your seat. Unfortunately, this seat had been pre-allocated. This was great as I was travelling in a group of 7, which meant that we were all seated together. However, for me it is a priority that I have an aisle seat towards the back of the plane. I requested this at check in and was told that ...
