In total there were going to be 10 of us going which included parents, best man and us and our kids. We did have a litle shop around beforehand but found Thomas Cook Signature (subsidary of Thomas Cook) the cheapest. We booked the holiday and they required a deposit of all of us which was £135.00 for each person including the children. Now that included a £10.00 each for our travel insurance through ...

...inveterate holiday-goer, I generally use Thomas Cook's website to find hotels, apartments, and special late deals, mainly because it's easy to navigate and is more informative than most. www.thomascook.co.uk.
ADVANTAGES:
The Thomas Cook website is one of the best I've used for holidays (I am assuming here that everyone knows how to get around the internet as Ciao is web-based!). Filling in details such as number of people, travel destination, hotel, ... ...of, say, a month! Thomas Cook's website gives you the flexibility to specify that wonderful "any day" within a month. So, 10/10 for that! With regards to the amount of money you wish to spend, Thomas Cook's website asks you to specify your budget. It will then do a search and, if it can't offer the exact place for the amount you can afford, will offer alternatives, e.g. if you've put in £200 for Tenerife, and it can't do it, it will offer you, say ...

...holidays have been booked through Thomas Cook, and if that's not an indication of a good company, I don't know what is. Here's a summary of the (many) good points and (fewer) bad points I've found. The Good : Although the chain is a large one, they have many smaller branches rather than fewer larger ones which gives a more homey atmosphere. Case in point : along Market St in Manchester (which later turns into the Piccadilly approach) there are 3 ... ...has not put me off Thomas Cook for life. I will continue to book the majority of my holidays with them (others come from the internet, not a diferent agency) for at least as long as I'm at Debenhams - we have a concession there which means I get a discount (yay!). Next time you're looking for a holiday, check out thomascook.com or pop into your local branch and don't just book it, Thomas Cook it. ...

Thomas Cook shops are, in general, quite large, and easily accessible for wheelchair. On one side of the store is the sea of brochures, with a selection of companies, including JMC, Thomson, Sky tours and First Choice among others. The other side of the shop contains the cheerful travel consultants, perched behind their screens, eagerly awaiting your custom. The store looks ‘nice’, with all the late deals posted ...

...on a plane chartered by Thomas Cook for a Saga (over 50s package holiday company) holiday tour. Every other person on our flight was over 50 and because it was a charter flight, there were an extra 12 rows of seats which means that you have no leg room and are not allowed to lower your seat (although nobody told us this until we did, and were hissed at by several octogenarians).
Check before you fly and if possible, book a seat near the front of ...

We recently travelled with Thomas Cook and found them refreshingly good. With a recent poor experience with Going Places we were reluctant to book with any travel agent again but Thomas Cook restored some faith in travel agents with us.
Their staff were friendly and seemed very well trained. They found us a holiday with JMC at short notice and followed through their service quickly and efficiently. Our holiday destination was unknown until we arrived ...

Advantages: Good holiday company and very helpful Disadvantages: None
...I had never booked with Thomas Cook until a couple of years ago. Reason being is I had always been told they were expensive. It appears nowadays one holiday firm is the same as any other so it blows that theory clean out of the water. They are always very busy when I go in there so that too is a good sign! Recently I booked the holiday of a lifetime for my honeymoon. To make it a bit different, we wanted to spend a bit of time talking it through ... ...This is where the Thomas Cook service took over. We booked an appointment with their "long distance and faraway destination" specialist. This lady was very helpful and lead us off to a room downstairs to sit, drink coffee and deal with us on a 1 to 1 basis away from the masses. She was extremely helpful and advised us on the best and worst things about destinations we mentioned. We settled on a tour of USA and Hawaii which she "built" for us. No ...

...to book our honeymoon through Thomas Cook Signature Holidays last year. We chose an idyllic holiday to Singapore and Bali departing the day after our wedding and Thomas Cook was only too helpful to take our booking.

Advantages: Friendly staff, competetive prices Disadvantages: None; they'll even phone you on a Sunday!
I turned to Thomas Cook because I was fed up with being treated by an idiot by the tour operators themselves. I have travelled with Thomas Cook before and was pleasantly surprised, especially as they made me a Privilege Member on return from holiday. I let this lapse and had forgotten all about it.

I have booked via a thomas cook agency on a number of occasions and have always found the staff helpful and more than ready to throw brochures at me.

Whenever I have used them they could not have been more helpful. Their aim seems to be to ensure that you get the holiday YOU want, not sell you any-old holiday to boost their commision.
