...and take bribes". Tijuana is notorious for trouble and has a bad reputation amongst lots of Americans, who will no doubt have a story about "a friend of a friend who was arrested for crossing the street and has never been seen again" but my opinion is that, it is fine to visit as long as you are sensible. * Passport/visa information * Americans do not require a passport to cross the mexican border, but should take id such as a current driving licence. ... ...security conscious. The border at Tijuana is said to be the busiest in the world, and illegal immigration is a big problem so be prepared for a wait! My experiences at the border was that when entering Mexico there are no controls whatsoever. When leaving Mexico, on one visit, we waited for 2 hours before we went through. At other times, which were very early mornings, we near enough walked through. Immigration are likely to ask if you bought anything, ...

...just kept the control of Tijuana after the Mexican revolution..
From 1915 this city became a destination for some Americans of San Diego that come here for horse races and cockfights, to bet in the casinos. Then, two years later, the Government of California decided ti shut-down all cabarets and Tijuana was ready to open them on its territory and the number of people from San Diego increased a lot.

Also nowadays Tijuana is the destination, during the weekend, for the young Californians that come here to satisfy their thirst of alcoholics (this is not really something to imitate) as in California you must be 21 to order an alcoholic drink.
Youths and elders run to Tijuana and fill the "lap dance" premises as they are more permissive than in California.

...looking for a wild time, Tijuana is the place to be. Cabarets, bull-fighting, casinos, cock-fighting, horse racing and a never ending night life.
Tijuana has it all!!!!!!!!!
Attractions
I would like to start off with bull-fighting. Normally, I would have to say this isn't a sport I aprove of. I haven't changed my mind on that but it was very interesting to watch. I have to admit, I got caught up in the enthusiasm of the crowd. You see a man all ... ...Rock. You can't go to Tijuana without gong here. It has these shooter girls and dancers all dressed in these amazing outfits. It has a hollwood feel to it.
A place called El Jardin is only open on Fridays and it plays classic rock music. Oh yes, and I do need to mention that if you enjoyed the rodeo during the day and want to see more, you can. At Rodeo Santa Fe you'll find live indoor rodeo up untill around midnight.
Dinning

Advantages: Good bargins in shops. Easy to get to from San Diego, and the food is great. Disadvantages: nope, can't think of any
...short drive, you are in Tijuana main street. The bus service was ecxellent and very regular.
The town centre is basically one long street with shops, bars, restraunts etc. We did wander down a couple of the side streets, but turned back after not finding anything of interest. Mind you with no guide book with us, and no information about the place at all, I think it's a safe bet we missed out on a lot of the town. What we did see though was great. ... ...shops are a lot cheaper than the equivalent just a few minutes across the border. One example was a Quiksilver shop, whos prices were about half that of the same chain in the States.
There were plenty of places to eat and drink, and these were also very reasonable. In one shop I picked up a bottle of mescal, complete with worm for $2 (about £1.50), and amazingly it was drinkable !!!!
One of the highlights for me (I'd never been to Mexico before) ...
