5 Stars Toronto top 10 for kids Review with images 27/03/2005

Advantages Advantages A great city for kids

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be very hot or very cold

Two summers ago, my best friend (and single Mum) was at a loss for what to do with her 13-year-old son during the holidays. I was planning a trip to Canada with my 18-year-old son and 20-year-old daughter, so I suggested that he could come along as well. In the event, his grandmother also joined us, so we were quite a jolly party. For both of them, it was their first visit to Canada (apart from a brief side trip to Niagara Falls that Gramma had made a few years ago) so it was exciting to be able to show them something of Canada, and especially Toronto. I got to thinking about what makes ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages a lot of homeless people around, very weak coffee

My partner and I went to Toronto in July 2006. It was to be the first part of our holiday and then we were flying to visit my partner's brother in Albany, New York State. We booked our tickets through lastminute.com and got a really good deal- it was a three legged journey; Manchester to Toronto, Toronto to Albany and then Albany to Toronto ,and Toronto back to Manchester. For 2 tickets we paid £1600. I did a lot of research on the internet before booking and this was what we needed. A lot of airlines did not meet our requirements. We got to the airport and as we were going through to passport ... more

We arrived at Pearson Airport after a seven hours flight for our weeks short break in Toronto. There were plenty of shuttle buses available to ferry passenger to the many city centre hotels. It was in the month of October and the autumn colours could only be described as breathtaking. Toronto is quoted as being “like New York but run by the Swiss”. Perhaps a bit unfair it is a beautiful city spotlessly clean and feels really safe to wander about at night. It is situated on the shores of Lake Ontario and is a sprawling metropolis of diverse cultures. Having so little time we wanted ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of ghosts, good food, pretty money, a good variety of attractions

Disadvantages Disadvantages Butter tarts and poutine are fattening

One of the wonderful things about big cities is that writers can find so many different aspects to write about them. Toronto is Canada's largest city, with a thoroughly diverse population and over 200 years of history. Articles can be found on everything from the geological manipulation of its shorefront to early 20th century commercial architecture to ethnic gay cuisine. My interest is in its history and ghost folklore. This great city is rich in both of these areas. After spending almost a week in Toronto, I'd like to introduce other inquiring minds to what I learned from my search for ... more

Advantages Advantages Great city and sights, very friendly people

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Very cold, burritos

As I arrived at Pearson Airport, the weather I was told had improved. It had stopped snowing and the temperature (with the wind chill) was sultry minus 28 degrees. This was my first visit to Canada, so I wasn’t going to let a bit of cold weather dampen my enthusiasm. After all you don’t go to Toronto in February and expect to get a suntan, do you? Like a little boy on Christmas Eve, I was so excited. Seeing a new city, a new country I could hardly contain myself as a waited by the conveyor belt for my suitcase to come around. Waiting for suitcases always makes me a little nervous, my memory ... more

Advantages Advantages So much to buy,see,do,eat,visit......

Disadvantages Disadvantages Excess baggage on way home.

Toronto has so much to offer the first -time visitor htat I will not bore you with a mass of details.Their tourist information is great and will send you a mass of information if you need it.The city also has a brilliant web-site packed to the gills with plenty to print off and send you to sleep at night reading as you plan your trip. Ontario also will send you loads of info,as the hinterland of Toronto has some marvellous places to go to,apart from the obvious ,Niagara Falls. However,if you are any thing like me,places to visit are rated by the quantity and quality of bookshops that can be ... more

Advantages Advantages canada's new york city

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

Toronto may not be Canada's capital, but it's sure mine. After several trips, and haivng finally settled there, this is a review about my capital. Toronto is Canada's business capital and a capital of family attractions. WHERE TO GO Ther are plenty of attractions in Toronto, one of them being the staggeirng CN Tower, which stands at 1, 815 ft and is said to be the worlds tallest building but i have reaosn to believe that the one in Malasia is. Anyhow, the CN Tower dominates the captivating skyline of Toronto which is beautful day or night. It's vewing decks are breathtaking and the glass floor ... more

I wanted to take this opportunity to give Gay and Lesbian visitors to Toronto a bit of an overview of what to expect and where to expect it. Toronto is many things to many people but it is the incredibly tolerant home to many diverse cultures and peoples. As a result, the gay community in Toronto is a large and thriving one and reflects the cultural and political makeup of the entire population. Although queer-friendly spaces exist all over the city, there is one main area in town, known locally as "The Village" which is the hub of gay nightlife and socializing in Toronto. Located on Church ... more

Advantages Advantages Diversity, cheapness(!), shopping, public transport

Disadvantages Disadvantages Weather (too hot or cold!)

Toronto.. the city of 5 star or budget, romance or chic, rest or non stop, take your pick. Personally I chose budget, chic (yes the two can go together!) and non stop, staying in one of the few hostels in Toronto - Global Village Backpackers - and had an immense time. The vast range of things to do in T.O means you can choose your activity to suit your pocket and suit the holiday you want. Must do's: A visit to the world renowned Eaton Centre (Yonge Street) for fantastic shopping, eating and generally hanging out. Ontario Science Centre (north of downtown) for an educational but (and trust me ... more

    Advantages Advantages Attention to detail

Disadvantages Disadvantages We didn't stay long enough!

Amazing! Words cannot express how wonderful our stay was at this B&B. Roger and Jim made us feel like royalty from the minute we opened the door to the minute we left. We stayed with Rog and Jim for two nights before touring, and then for another two nights on our return. It was the best start and end to our trip to Canada. The B&B is actually about 1 hours walk from the real "downtown" that you'd imagine to be the heart of the city. However, we did walk it a couple of times through Queens Park which is lovely. And we also used the subway, which is soooo much easier to figure out than the Tube ... more
