A Tour of La Tour

Advantages: Great views, beautiful at night
Disadvantages: Not good if you're frightened of heights, there are better views of the city,

...around a corner and the Tour Eiffel stood majestically before him. Ah oui... === Histoire de la Tour Eiffel === There's something magical about the Tour Eiffel. It's become the symbol of Paris, the symbol of France itself, and yet it was never meant to stand for more than a year. It was originally supposed to be erected in Barcelona, but plans designed by Gustave Eiffel were rejected. Construction finally began in Paris, where the tower was to create ...
...in 2002. === La Tour Today === The Eiffel Tower is one of the most visited paid monuments in the world, let alone in Paris. It offers spectacular views over the city and is an intriguing-looking structure both up close and from afar. Instantly recognisable, the tower has three floors, two restaurants, its own Post Office and even an ice-rink (in winter). === Practical Information === If you do want to visit the tower, there are lots of important ...

The Awful Tower

Advantages: Very beautiful, brilliant view from the very top
Disadvantages: Bit expensive. Wheel chair access doesn't apply to the top floor

...called Champs de Mars – Tour Eiffel which as the name suggests, is very close to the Tower. Off we tottered trying to find it. It wasn’t difficult considering you can actually see the huge tower for miles around! All cameras came out tourist-stylee ready to snap at all angles of it. I prepared myself to see the awful tower for the first time, eyes wide, camera at the ready…and we turned the corner to be greeted by the huge, sturdy, ...
...a bit pricey because the tour isn’t very long but in my opinion its worth seeing Paris from such a great height and spotting the various other landmarks from the top platform. Access to the first and second floor is via one lift. You then need to change lifts if you want to reach the top floor. The lifts are spacious, although everyone very eagerly pushes and shoves constantly so watch those handbags. Rest assured the lifts are safe and don’t ...

An iconic monument

Advantages: Iconic, amazing views
Disadvantages: Queues!

On my recent trip to Paris with a friend I knew that I wanted to go up the Eiffel Tower. I’d been up the Tower about 16 years ago but the last time I was in Paris, about 6 years ago, I couldn’t go up as the ex-Mr Tart was scared of heights. My friend and I both made the Tower a priority for our trip. SOME HISTORY: The Tower was designed by Gustave Eiffel for the Paris Exposition to celebrate the centenary of the French Revolution in 1889. It was ...
...but the French realised it was good for communication so allowed it to stay up. The Tower is made from over 18000 pieces of metal and 2.5 million rivets. The Tower is painted every 7 years to stop it rusting and it takes nearly 60 tonnes of paint! It is visited by around 6 million people every year. The Tower now stands at 324 metres since a TV antenna was added in 2000. LOCATION: There is a story of Guy du Maupassant who said that he ate in the ...

When I Fell For The Eiffel

Advantages: Great views over the city, interesting things to look at / read at different levels, most bon waffles in the cafe
Disadvantages: No trampolines like in Blackpool's :(

...do better. The Tour Eiffel, constructed for 1889’s Universal Exhibition dominates the parc du Champs-de-Mars on the banks of the Seine. Designed by engineer Gustav Eiffel, hence the name, it stretches up for over 300m, and at the time was the tallest building in the world. Even after September 11th, it is still no where near close to reclaiming this title however. ** Trip Up + Views From The Top ** For many people a visit starts and ends with ...

Address : Tour Eiffel, Champ de Mars, Paris, 75007 Tel : (from inside Paris) 44 11 23 11 ** Overall ** J’aime le Tour Eiffel, if we can assume for a moment that aimer means to like not to love. What I mean is, it was a nice place to go on my first trip to the city, and in 30 years or so I’ll probably go back, BUT it won’t be top of my list as something to do during every trip I make there in between. The queues were quite ...

What an EYEFUL

Advantages: Fair pricing, Amazing views and scenery, What a nostalgic and historic monument!
Disadvantages: Avoid if you don't like heights, Can be cold and windy and slightly peturbing at the summit!

...are stamped with the unique Tour de la Eiffel postmark. The second floor............ Now were getting serious, this level is 125 metres above the ground and is rather windy and cold come to think of it. This floor is much smaller than the first because obviously the tower is getting smaller in width. The other sights are much further away and more difficult to make out but you can see more of them nevetheless including the Louvre museum and the ...
...La Jules Verne restaurant which gives exquisite views of Paris in lavish surroundings, it is one of the most prestigious restaurants in France but the prices reflect that so beware - it is also advisable to prebook tables. This is as far as wheelchair users can go and the stairs close to the public from hereon in although I would have thought they'd be glad of that anyway! Originally the stairs to the top were spiral and slippery but have since been ...

How I spent the night at La Tour Eiffel

Advantages: View ... wind ... chill ...
Disadvantages: View ... wind ... chill ...

...husband and I visited la tour Eiffel at night, having previously visited it in the middle of a hot summer day. I thought, a night visit would be quite different, the night scene would be a nice change and the crowds will not be so bad. Upon reaching the Eiffel Tower, I wasn't wrong in my assumptions because it was quite deserted and we had a fabulous time! Getting there ============= The Eiffel Tower can be reached by several means, of which we ...
...will have the special 'Paris Tour Eiffel' postmark! Well, onto the next level. The second level is about 115 metres above ground. We are definitely getting higher! Here, the nightview is definitely more spectacular. In the distance I could see Notre Dame and further afield, I spot Sacre Coeur, the cathedral sitting on its hill in its full glory of white, reflecting the full moon. I could also see Champs Elysees, with the cars bustling around it, ...

The Tower in the Love' s city.

Advantages: wonderful
Disadvantages: sometimes crowded.

The Eiffer Tower (La Tour Effiel) is the most important monument of Paris, and the Symbol of the Ligh and Love city, although if you go to Paris, there is no much illumination lol. Eiffel Tower is 324m long, the weigh is 10000 tones, in summer it can be 18 cm taller than in summer because of the high temperatures in metals The tower was built because of the expo 1889, by Gustave Eiffel, he wanted to use the tower as a big gate to go into the exposition. ...
...experience in the tower. I went up the tower this summer, in july, when I went there were a lot of people but it wasn't a problemas because the queues are very fast and you don't have to wait for a long time. The tower has 3 floors, you can climb the 2 first floors by feet in steps or by lift, but if you use the lift you have to pay a bit more. It is not tiring, at least for me and it is good for health hahahaha. In the first floor you have some ...

The Eiffel Tower

Advantages: cheap to visit, great views of paris, one of the most popular attractions
Disadvantages: lengthy queues

If you visit Paris its almost rude not to go up the Eiffel tower. Those of you who have read my other reviews on Paris will know I went there last summer for a few days……and yes I did venture up the Eiffel tower. History: The Eiffel tower was built by the contractor Gustave Eiffel in 1889 and is 118 years old. It took only two years two months and five days to build, which is quite remarkable considering the height of the tower, the weight of the ...
...There is an exhibition marking the building work of the tower on one of the levels and this is well worth a look, although I can't remember which level it is on. My opinion: I thought it was great and really good value for money, however it has since been named top of the list in a poll of the worlds most disappointing tourist spots; a fact which I find hard to believe. I must admit the queues are ridiculously long, I mean massive, but there are ...

great but a lot of money

Advantages: dominates paris skyline
Disadvantages: expensive to go up

The eiffel tower must be one of the most strange monuments ever built. But it is truely magnificent when you are stood looking up at it. The tower dominates the Paris skyline and is a must when you visit. However it is not a cheap place to go. To be honest I found it better to stand at the bottom and munch on a crepe than going up although the views are spectaular. Do go there but maybe don't go up I guess And the general area surrounding the ...

The Eiffel Tower.

Advantages: Amazing Views, great experience
Disadvantages: A little pricy, can be very busy.

I suppose it would seem hard to write a decent review about a landmark that is so well documented and features in just about every movie filmed in France ever. i know that you will have seen pictures of it and perhaps seen one of the many movies: View to a kill, Le Divorce etc and I am sure that you have really grasped the true size of the thing. It is absolutely emormous and seems to climb for ever. We visited it on the 21st of June 2006. We got ...
...the metro). Basically we were walking on the street that has the Tower on it, but we could not see it at all. Initially you have to look up into the sky to see it as there are lots of trees around it. I could not fathom the size of the tower and I felt daunted at the prospect of going up to the top. The price was OK, but if you are on a budget make sure that you include enough money. It was 11 Euros to go to the top and abouot 9 Euros to visit ...

Towering above Paris

Advantages: A magnificent structure with manificent views.
Disadvantages: Queueing and annoying salespeople.

The Eiffel Tower is the ultimate attraction in France and certainly it does not fail to amaze. On flying into the airport (Charles de Gaulle) I got a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower and at first I thought it was smaller than I had imagined. Yet, the next day we set off. It is really simple to get there by metro and from the station it only takes 5 minutes to walk there. It is well signposted. You are probably thinking what a nutter I am - surely I would ...
...up, so it is hidden behind buildings until you get nearer it. I first saw it on turning a corner and its anormity was astounding. On arrival we queued up (we went in June and where in the queue about 2-2 1/2 hours). This was OK, except for the fact that there were people walking round trying to sell things which gets really annoying. It was cheap to go to the second level and the view from here is magnificent, especially on a sunny day when the ...

The Eiffel Tower

Advantages: Spectacular views
Disadvantages: Not good if you are scared of heights

If you are visiting Paris then the Eiffel Tower has to be visited. The views of Paris were spectacular especially from the second level. We took our 2 children up but be careful of the lifts because you are very tightly packed in and they nearly got squashed. We also did not find the prices to be expensive and thought that 17 francs to enter to be good value. Standing underneath the tower we found the prospect of climbing it daunting, but our ...

the eiffel tower is the unquestioned sight of paris. there is nothing else like it in the world (aart from the copy of it the french gave to the americans a while back) and it is deservedly he focus of attention in paris. you can go up by foot (to the 2nd level) or by elevator to the top, but in both cases the queues are usually very long and the prices very very very expensive. i prefer to stay on the ground and marvel at the spectacle from different ...

Last nights of twinkles

Advantages: touristic place known from the world
Disadvantages: ...

I heard of Eiffel Tower's twinkles of lights stop after the july 14th. Then, I had the opportunity to take photos from the "Lady of Paris" in night, with all its lights. If you want to see a last time, these ephemeral stars, then hurry up to come. Many people come each night to admire "her". These thousand and one stars (I didn't count...) twinkle during few minutes, at 10 PM ans at 11 PM each night, at nightfall. In summer, sky is still light ...
...a side, orange and sometime pink and red at sunset side, clouds give relief to sky, mossy or diffused from far. The Eiffel Tower, standed up high to the sky, luminous twinkling in the night. The "Lady of Paris" illuminates, visible from far, like as a lighthouse of tourists attracted by this yellow-orange light. A pencil of blue light at horizontal way, rotating around its head, covered of many antennas. I have never gone up to the Eiffel Tower, ...
