...best meets their needs. Travelcare has a policy of it’s “The Customer’s Right to Know” an open policy which will tell people exactly what to expect form their chosen destination and resort. I was a civil servant and holidays must be booked the year before to ensure there is sufficient staff to keep the system running properly. My first time I tried Travelcare I was at my wit’s end. I had booked two weeks in June and had also had to book the cattery well in advance, the Summer months are soon booked up and I had two cats to board out. My partner and I wanted to go to Rhodes, but ...

COMPANY DETAILS These days I head off to Travelcare as a matter of routine. The company claim to be the largest independent travel agents and have no direct link to any tour operator. They have a policy called the Traveller's Right To Know which gives you an unbiased view of the resorts and properties. They are one of the few agents who will offer you to the travel agents bible to look at. ... ...SERVICE As well as the wide range of brochures - from the major tour operators such as JMC, Airtours and Thomson - you will also find companies such as Intersky, Libra, Transun, Golden Sun, and Balkan given equal importance when you want to select your trip. When you go to look for a holiday here allow plenty of time. You will not be offered the Thomson options (as will be the case on a trip to Lunn Poly), Airtours only (Going Places). The staff ...

Travelcare promise in their advertising to “match any price….”, or at least they did until I visited complete with my quote from Portland Direct, whereby after turning some interesting shades of green, they quickly changed this to “match the price of any other High Street Agent….”, oh well, not one to be perturbed, we gave the poor tour operator a long list of holidays to price for us. ...

Advantages: I guess they're usually quite cheap for the high st Disadvantages: don't honour their quotes and treat customers rudely
At the top of the Ciao charts, everyone seems to be singing the praises of Travelcare, however a recent experience means I would not consider booking with them in the future. I felt I needed to write this opinion in the interests of balance…
We recently visited one of their branches to enquire about self-drive holidays to Northern France, and were shown a selection of holidays by a helpful adviser. We eventually settled on a two week break ... ...we needed as well as being very good value. We obtained a price including the long ferry crossing to St Malo (= shorter drive), and were on the point of booking when their computer system crashed. As they were due to close within the hour they said it would not be restored until the next working day, but I was concerned we might lose this terrific deal if it couldn’t be booked there and then. I was assured I needn’t worry, but to reassure ...

...finding suitable holiday deals. At Travelcare however they had several packages that appealed to us and their descriptions of the holiday resorts were incredibly honest. We really did not want to end up in a touristy, commercialised destination which was packed with screaming kids, and if this was the case, Co-op Travelcare told us!
We eventually settled for what was promised to be a quiet, peaceful resort in Cyprus, which was exactly what we got. ...

...went into our local Co-Op Travelcare in Birkenhead and we ended up talking to some very nice people. In the branch they have a list on the wall of all the locations that the staff have visited and they will give personnel advice on a location or resort if they can. We decided to take a holiday and went round lots of different travel agents Thomas Cook etc… We chose Travel care because they were flexible and very cheep we wanted a holiday for our honeymoon which we left until we had been married for 1 year we booked it 11 months in advance even though it was really cheep for and all inclusive in Spain Alcudia.
We used the travel care in Kirklees inside the shopping centre in Batley its only a small shop and ... ...hate companies that are not disability friendly it makes me so furious. We paid £1049 that included accommodation all you can eat food and a special occasions pack. We booked it in April 2003 even though we booked it so much in advance we had something to look forward too. So after all the computer work and booking it oh yeah in the price was included the insurance.

Advantages: real personal, helful service Disadvantages: not branches in every town or city
...I'm in the local Co-op Travelcare office I seem to get excellent service - real personal attention.
The last couple of times we've been in there we were looking for advice on a late booking. We'd wandered around three of our local towns in the previous few days looking in each of the Agents' windows. The first time we;d almost given up - it was only a fortnight till we had a 'window of opportunity', as my hubby calls it, to go away. We'd got the ... ...the right place, right date, right airport - but far too much. We'd even spent over an hour in Thomas Cook being told that "No way will you get a holiday for less that £XXX on that date".
Anyway more in hope, we wenmt into the Co-op at around 4-55pm. We'd used the branch before to get currency, pick up brochures, book an overnight Airport hotel stay, car parking etc as well as a regular holiday well in advance. It would have been easy for them to ...

Co-Op Travelcare are not affiliated to any tour operator and as such can offer truly independent advice. They are very keen to know the sort of holiday that you are looking for (quiet, lively, family etc.) and will tell you which apartments and resorts to avoid even if they risk losing a sale!
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful (I spent over two hours there) and have access to a wide range of tour operators and flight options.

Co-op in my opinion are the best, most helpful and friendly Travel Agents around. i have used Lunn PLoly , Baker & Dolphin and Thomas Cook previously and they cannot hold a candle to the efficiency of Co-op

I recently went to Florida with Travelcare, my holiday was booked ten months in advance for a party of eight, and everything was booked in my name on my credit cards therefore I could see no problems.

We managed to get another receptionist (a more cordial one) to let us have a room for the night and we promised to be back at the desk by nine the next morning,we had been trying to sort the problem for more than two hours by now and therefore we were grateful for anything.

I agree with the other comments about the Co-Op. The branch at Mersey Square are very helpful. They helped sort out a major problem we had last year due to missing our flights. booked a holiday with travelcare direct over the phone. On booking, I was told that the final payment was due Immediately, (12 Weeks before the start of the holiday).
