Travelodge's basic package

Advantages: Great location and price.
Disadvantages: Room is very, very basic.

...a stop directly opposite the Travelodge, so in some cases if you don't feel like walking into town or up the hill you can catch the bus up instead. There is also a plenitude of buses that run along the part of that part of the Royal Mile as well and they do run regularly. It is also only five minutes walk to am area called Cowgate, where there are a large number of bars and clubs, so the Travelodge is well within staggering distance. --The Room--- ...
...tonal colour as any other Travelodge, the decorating and colour did not stop at certain levels and as was continuous throughout the place which was nice. In the Bar/ Restaurant area there were a mixture comfy sofas and tables and chairs. My only qualm was that it was always warm in the Hotel and never seemed to cool down at all, especially in the Reception area. The Hotel does have a limited number of Car Park spaces located at the back of the building, ...

Cheap but not cheerful!

Advantages: Low price and good location
Disadvantages: Don't expect comfort

When looking for a hotel to stay in for my recent trip to Edinburgh to take part in the marathon, I wanted something that was both central and also reasonably priced. This proved to be quite a hard combination to find as Edinburgh, like most major cities is quite an expensive place to stay for the weekend. Most of the hotels that I priced in Edinburgh, were coming in at way over £200 for the two of us for two nights which was a bit more than we were ...
...then stumbled accross the Travelodge website where I found out that there was a Travelodge in the centre of Edinburgh. The hotel was about half the price of the others and having stayed in other Travelodge hotels in the past which were reasonable, I booked this hotel. *****LOCATION***** The Edinburgh Central Travelodge hotel is in an excellent location in the centre of Edinburgh. The marathon was starting in Princes Street which is the main street ...

A family friendly place

Advantages: family rooms, price
Disadvantages: noise, limited food menu

We have just returned from a short break in Edinburgh with our two young children (age 6 and 4) and have had a good experience staying in a family room at the city centre travellodge. We travelled to Edinburgh by train so were pleased to discover the hotel is only a short walk from the station (about 10 minutes). It is really well located just off the Royal Mile and therefore located close to many of Edinburghs main attractions. It is uphill from ...
...so it is probably possible to get a bus up from the new town. Booking We booked on-line and paid a total of £136 which was taken from credit card on booking. You receive a reference with which you can cancel up to 12 midday on booked day Check - in Officially check in is from 3pm, however we arrived at 1pm in the hope we could leave our luggage. We were met by a very friendly receptionist who checked the availability of the family rooms and allowed ...

Cheap, but better than a tent !

Advantages: cheapish, good location
Disadvantages: very basic accommodation

I stayed at this travelodge in Jan 2004, following a special internet offer from travelodge offering rooms for a fiver a night. Despite some juggling to find a room free in the travelodges on the night we wanted listed in the offer, we eventually booked a room at the Edinburgh Central. The ' hotel ' has a good location for exploring Edinburgh, being in walking distance of the railway station, castle, camera obscura and a good selection of shops, ...
...' room which included a large surprisingly comfortable bed and a sofa bed, as well as an en-suite bathroom and the usual wardrobe etc. Tea and coffee making facilities were also provided. Very basic hotel toiletries were also provided. There was a remote-control TV that had good clear reception. The heating was just right, and Edinburgh was very cold when we stayed. The room was clean, large and a lot nicer than I expected. Plenty of room for a ...

Travelodge Edinburgh

Advantages: Price, Location
Disadvantages: Noise, Basic Accomodation

On a recent business trip to Edinburgh my colleagues and I decided to stay in the travelodge in Edinburgh as it was right across the road from the location of our training course the following day. On arrival we had to wait in a long queue for more than 15 minutes to check in, however the receptionist was really apologetic and once she got to use was very pleasant and professional. The rooms were basic which is to be expected for the price however ...
...The room itself was fine, however I would not stay there again as it was so noisy. As its in central Edinburgh there is activity going on all night outside, I got up to check my window on more than one occasion as the noise was so loud - and I was on the fourth floor! It sounded like there was a bar right below my room. The noise eventually quietened down a bit at 4:30 only to start up again at 5am with the street cleaners. On checking out the next ...

Tremendous Travelodge

Advantages: Central to Edinburgh, right beside the Royal Mile
Disadvantages: Little bit of road noise

...partner recently stayed in the Travelodge, Edinburgh Central, Edinburgh for a 4 day short break. From the start of our break to the very end we found the entire experience with Travelodge to be of a very high standard. This was the first time that we have stayed in a Travelodge and since then we have stayed in one of their Hotels in London which was also fantastic. I have to say i was extemely dubious paying under £30 per room per night and was really ...
...could not have been more happy. Yes, the rooms may be basic but if you only need a base for your stay then they are more than adequate and because you book online there is not much to do in the way of checking in and checking out. The rooms were cleaned every day and with the tea and coffee making facilities we were very comfortable staying there. The only downside to this Travelodge was a little bit of road noise but this was Edinburgh after all ...
